RNC Protest in St Paul: A message for McCain
10,000 people travelled to the Capitol in St Paul to provide an alternative message to the RNC.

They recognize that our democracy is fragile.

Much more fragile than many realize.

People are tired of US sanctioned torture.

and the influence of special interests

The delegates are toasting $525 per once shots of whiskey paid for by their lobbyist friends

With the expectation to be paid back with purchases of strategic missiles

and other pork that increases the national debt

The Republicans say they care about victims of hurricanes, but McCain has voted against funding for Katrina on many occasions

McCain says he supports the troops, but he has a record of voting against funding for veterans

We cannot count on the media to cover the story

But we are not fooled by their propaganda

The Republicans talk about freedom, but their preemptive war has brought Iraqis death and destruction

McCain wants 100 more years of war and its funding, while the people of the US are suffering from a housing crisis

If money is being spent on war, it's not available for education.

Money is not being spent on other human needs, such as health care. The Twin Cities Hmong know about these issues.

The war on terror has brought a loss of civil liberties, as the raids of houses and a community center in the Twin Cities has shown recently. The persons in this photo are waving plastic handcuffs from a preemptive assault on a community center.

We miss justice.

As the signs say, "I miss Democracy" and "I miss America"

Some say we should dismantle the empire

Still others see hope

But all agree that for any progress to be made, McCain needs to be handed his pink slip.

8. yep
I have been documenting these antiwar events in the Twin Cities for years. I used to post on Twin Cities Indy Media, but when they changed their management software they lost all of my previous posts.

I will be placing my still pics and videos in multiple places, including http://silencedmajority.blogs.com/

9. Great site, thanks! And thank you also for being a witness.
We need as many as we can get. I've just finished 'The End of America - Letter of Warning to a Young Patriot" by Naomi Wolf, totally chilling.

Next up - 'Shock Doctrine' and Bugliosi's book. I'm a glutton for punishment.

I'm surprised the M$M has reported even 10,000 marchers. In 2005 and 2007 we easily had a half a million in DC, but it was "reported" as ten's of thousands. It always under reports the numbers of the dissenters, good propaganda. 'Allow' We the People to know there are protesters, but underplay the numbers and average people believe they are in a minority and remain silent.

It's like waiting for the pot to boil waiting for Nov. The tension is palpable in the very air it seems. I can barely stand to watch their "America First" orgy. I'm actually glad I am not there. My patience is worn thin.

Namaste.
