Only in Minnesota
As I drove home from work, (after getting a call from a police officer that my 17-year-old had been in a minor traffic accident, and was getting a citation --no injuries and I'm told only minor vehicle damage-couldn't see any on her car) .....

and I saw a man on a bicycle wearing shorts. It's snowing, 29 degrees, and I saw a man on a bicycle wearing shorts. Sometimes I just love living in Minnesota.

1. Biking in 29 degree weather is still hot outside
it takes quite a bit of energy to keep moving in the heavy slush. I love winter biking. 20deg and light snow is really nice to be out in.

8. I recall a report on the news one year with HCMC warning
that even if you are hot - it's still dangerous to wear shorts in this kind of weather.

I think it was the year it was so cold Arnie Carlson closed the schools. HCMC came out with this when it finally got back to 20 above or so. That's when they actually saw more frostbite cases. Twenty above felt so warm that people were getting careless about dressing for the weather.

4. I used to play Frisbee in shorts and a t-shirt
and barefoot. In the snow.

Up hill. Both ways.

6. but you know it's still to become goddamn cold...
...anybody else catch the documentary on tpt 2 this evening about the 1984 blizzard that swept western Mn. and eastern N.D.? 22 people lost their lives. extremely bitter, ferocious storm. Hope nothing like that comes along...but you know ... the last half of january, the first half of february...sometime in there it's going to be gawdawful cold.
