Friday Meetup at Liffey's ***Just keeps getting better****(PICS)
Good Food,
Good People,
Good Conversation.

Maybe it is the brightness and optimism of a new Summer,
Or maybe the infectious joy of our expecting father,
or a long awaited visit from a delightful new friend,
maybe we just finally had some GOOD news to talk about for a welcome change,

Probably a combination of ALL of the Above allowed for more hope, optimism, and laughter. We all laughed, relaxed, and celebrated our LIBERALISM in each others welcome company tonight, and it shows in the pictures.

There was some talk of having an outdoor picnic or maybe even canoing, tubing, or other summer activity???
Thought and comments on this please.

1. Oh, rats, I was totally intending to go, but then
the hard drive on my laptop died today and I ended up hanging out at the Apple Store at the MOA after work to see if they could fix it (which they couldn't), and by the time I got done there I figured it was too late to head over to St. Paul. Looks like a good time, as usual; I hope to be at the next one.

2. We were a jolly bunch, were we not?
By the way, I posted in the Lounge about Chickenscratching not showing up.

If anyone would like to add an admonition, here's the post, which is sinking rapidly:

15. Phew... glad I did not promise
We were going to play it by ear, as spouse had some business in St. Paul, closer to the 280, rather.

And the drive on the 94 was horrendous!! Spouse had been going there all week and declared the lane from the 394 to the 94 a parking lot, starting at around 2:30 pm!!

We decided to pretend that we were a "prohibited vehicles" and existed on Dunwoody and to Hennepin/Lyndale and then to the 94 again. At least we were moving.

BTW, I've noticed a new construction of condos right there, where Lyndale/Hennepin enters the 94. Are there no planning commissions to prohibit building apartments and condos (expensive, I bet) right by the freeway? The humming noise of a freeway is just as bad as aircraft over one's head.

3. Wow, What Wonderful People They Have In MN!
I haven't ever been there but after seeing these pix I sure would love to catch a MN DU meetup. GREAT GREAT GREAT!!

Hey it's Fudge Stripe Cookays! Lots of great tips from her at the economic activism forum. Hi FSC!

Very inspiring, I would like to do a get together in L.A. I went to one before the election and it was a blast. Admit to being a bit deflated AFTER the election for obvious reasons but it's nice to feel that cautious optimism rising up again. People are paying attention! People are getting it...yeah!

8. It's official-- MN DUers ROCK!!!!
Wow, what a great time! I'm so glad I made it to this one! And the addition of FSC from Texas was the icing on a very tasty cake, of course!

By far, DUers are the best sort of people you can know. Intelligent, funny, and also darn good looking to boot!

Thanks to everybody (and thanks to bvar22 and bushwentawol for the cool photos!). I'm looking forward to July's meet-up!

20. The pleasure was all mine!
It's nice to finally put names to faces. And sorry about the misattribution of the pics-- they're quite nice! At least I don't look like too much of a troglodyte!

I'm hoping to get back into doing the DFLPC site a little more in the near future. I've got some ideas for sprucing it up and making it easier to maintain. Plus it gives me an excuse to keep my skills current. Not to mention the cause!

9. double rats!

My son arrived in town Friday afternoon and was supposed to come over, so I skipped going to the Liffy to wait for him. At 9 pm he called and said he was going to stay with friends for the night.

Dang, and double dang. What's the date in July?

(Isn't The Liffy great, though? Did they have the two guys on stage singing Irish songs?)

if I didn't live an hour and a half to two hours out of the cities, it would be much easier for me to get to these things.

18. We missed you too.
We are talking about planning a Meet Up in a central part Minnesota so that it will be easier for some of our DUers to attend, and give us a chance to get out of the City.

Which part of Minnesota do you live in?

towards Winona.

Having a meetup in the SE suburbs would work better (Hastings/Red Wing/Lake City).

24. A great time!
And great pictures. I think we should keep the Liffey in mind for future gatherings - it was nice the way the had us off in our own little area.

A picnic sounds like a great idea - I'll bring the paper products, you don't want me cooking. (Actually, I do have one really good salad recipe and I make a mean pumpkin bar.)

This is the first chance I've had to check the board the last 2 days! Yesterday I drove all over Minneapolis, to Crystal Lake Cemetery and then to the neighborhood over off off Lake where my Ggrandma and Ggrandpa lived when they were here 1895-1900 or so. The places were still there! The last one had been replaced by a clapboard tract house. Bummer.

The neighborhood was a bit seedier of course, but that was a nice bit of history.

then I got lost trying to get out of Minneapolis. Whoever designed that whole 35-E to Eastbound 94 thing, (where you have to follow the signs by the university) should be strung up by their genitals!

And it seemed that whatever street I was looking for, it was never labeled the street I was looking for. So I learned to see WHAT 3 names each street had before proceeding.

Finally got back to my hotel, and a 600 person wedding reception was in progress. It's a good thing I got back when I did, or I wouldn't have been able to park for the night!

As everyone has said, the Minnesota bunch are a lot of fun! We had lots of chuckles, and it was great meeting so many new folks!

Thanks again, ya'll!
:-)
