Introducing Michiganliberal.com
Former public radio host and one-time Congressional candidate Matt Ferguson wants Michigan Democrats to grow some backbone:
“For too long Democrats in our state have suffered under the notion that we have to act like Republicans if we want to win. Yet our state faces some of the most serious problems in its history: closing schools, overflowing prisons, cities in ruin and major employers driven to the brink of destruction by soaring health care costs. Now is hardly the time for poll-driven half measures. The people of our state deserve no less from our leaders than bold, innovative, and courageous action.”
With hopes of rallying Democratic opinion leaders, Ferguson today formally launched Michiganliberal.com (Michlib). The new blog site is modeled after the highly-successful national liberal blog, Dailykos.com, and utilizes the same software platform as Dailykos. Michlib features the “Daily Michnews”, a roundup and analysis of relevant news and information from 20 Michigan news sources. Users are invited to comment on news items and to post their own stories on the “Michlib Userwire.“ Over the long term, Ferguson plans to post profiles of hot legislative races and interviews with key players on Michigan’s political scene.
Ferguson is a former state capitol correspondent and talk show host for the Michigan Public Radio Network and WKAR East Lansing. In 2004, he mounted an unsuccessful bid for the U.S. House of Representatives as a Democrat in Michigan’s 8th District. Ferguson is now Director of Corporate Communications for Practical Political Consulting of East Lansing.
Michiganliberal.com is a production of Michiganliberal.com, a Michigan limited liability company (wholly owned by Ferguson). Ferguson hopes advertising revenue will soon cover the meager startup costs.
