Putting and end to torture - Major speech by Reps. Conyers, Meehan & Moran

On Monday, December 12, Congressman Marty Meehan, a senior member of the House Judiciary Committee, will lead a public forum to discuss the issue of detainee treatment as well as legislative actions to investigate allegation of torture at U.S. detention facilities and prohibit cruel and demeaning treatment.

When: Monday, December 12, 12:00 p.m.

Where: Suffolk University,

David A. Sargent Hall

120 Tremont Street

Congressman Meehan will lead a panel discussion and question and answer session featuring a number of nationally-recognized figures from law, politics, social justice and academia.

Joining Congressman Meehan will be:

Rep. John Conyers (D-Michigan), who will also keynote the event.

Rep. James Moran (D-Virginia)

William Schulz, Executive Director, Amnesty International

Kristine Huskey, Shearman & Sterling LLP, George Washington University Law School

Barbara Olshansky, Center for Constitutional Rights

Scott Horton, Columbia Law School, Chair - New York Bar Assn. Committee on International Law

That I didnt live so far away,I would go for sure.I think that John Conyers deserves a medal.Too bad he is about the only one who has the balls to stand up to the criminals running this administration and he is getting no help from any of his friends or supporters.
Everyone bitches about all the problems this country has and then they go home ,have a beer and say oh well.
What ever happened to the people from the 60's who stood up for what they believed in and marched in the streets 100,000 at a time.Where are all the baby boomers that bush and his criminal base are destroying???Will they wake up when they end up with no rights and no ss????
