Environment Massachusetts is working on an urgent campaign to protect
our ocean ecosystems and we need your help!

We are having a meeting to kickoff the campaign on Thursday, September
13 at 7:00 at our office at 44 Winter Street (just a block from
Downtown Crossing and Park Street T-stops). At the meeting, we'll talk about
the issue, the campaign and ways you can get involved.

Background:

Right now our oceans are under great threat. The statistics are
frightening. If we don't change the way we manage our oceans, it is estimated
that by the year 2048 most of our fish stocks around the world will be
commercially extinct. We are nearing a tipping point. Entire
ecosystems are at risk, it's not just the fish - whales, seals, dolphins, and
turtles are in danger as well.

The good news is that we have a unique opportunity to protect our
oceans. The federal government is changing the rules, holding public
hearings, and asking for public comment. We need to make sure our voice is
heard.

We are conducting a campaign to get the word out on the issue and let
the National Marine Fisheries Service know that the people of New
England care about our oceans. There are lots of ways to get involved.
