Is Kathleen Blanco useless, or is it just me?

I voted for her for two reasons...

1) Having a strong democratic establishment in Louisiana would hopefully boost the democratic nominee (now Kerry)'s chance of winning in November.

2) She wasn't Bobby Jindal.

But seriously, this woman is a tad more democratic than Zell Miller in regard to the fact that she hasn't openly endorsed Bush. She won't campaign for Kerry because she thinks it looks bad being seen with a liberal democrat. Unfortunately, she's about the best we could do. The other dems running for governor were mostly just as bad. Maybe when Mitch Landrieu's time comes to seek higher office, he'll be less of a DINO. I can only hope.

Those who think that the DLC = DINO oughta move to Louisiana. The DLC looks like the radical left wing compared to people like Blanco.

1. I'm really disappointed in her
I knew things were not going to go as I hoped when she spent her first three months in office doing photo-ops with Bush.

2. Although she is more conservative than I wish she was...
...I have to disagree with you guys. She did campaign for Kerry:

...and she raised a big stink here in the right wing radio circuit by not greeting GW when he came here a short time ago.

I wish she were a lib like me, but she has continued on with some education programs I agree with, and she's fighting a tough battle right now with a retarded contract (the Saints fiasco) left over from the last admin, plus she's working her ass off on making Louisiana more attractive to companies that could employ some folks here.

She could do a helluva lot more, but she's got one of the hardest jobs in the states. I wouldn't wish her job on my worst enemy.

6. She said she would invite Bush to the governors' mansion if he wanted
And made one appearance with Kerry.

7. Not trying to stir the pot...
I'm not an apologist for her by any means, but your initial post stated that she wouldn't be seen with Kerry... well, I was there when she hosted his appearance at the mansion and introduced him as our next President... there were three rows of news cameras documenting the event for the world to see (the photos I posted were mine).

As far as the invite goes, as you stated... she would invite him if he wanted. It would be political suicide for her (or Governor) to be completely hostile to the sitting President (no matter how much of a bastard he is).

5. She's worthless....she wasnt' the BEST we could do for Gov. either....
...BUDDY LEACH was tellin' it like it needed to be told...he was for TAXING the HELL outta the OIL and N.GAS industries AND for goin' to Canada and Mexico for affordable drugs for senior citizens...he was the ONLY candidate that remotely stood for what changes needed to take place in this state...IMO....but as in ALL politics now...you get promised actions that never get accomplished or even attempted or thought about again.

Mitch will be as much of a liar as his sister has become...book it! :eyes:

LOVED Buddy Leach. Hell, his was the first campaign rally I ever went to. I would have loved nothing more than for him to be governor.

9. I don't think she's too bad
I do wish she was less friendly to Bush; but, then she would probably not get re-elected. We do need some liberals down here. It's pretty stuffy.
