Don't give up water fight

The movement for local control of water won't die because of last week's setback in the state Supreme Court.

Reclaiming Lexington's water franchise from the distant conglomerate that took control three years ago is too important to give up.

But the Supreme Court's cavalier performance -- first refusing to hear the case, then overruling two lower courts to cancel an election that was just 26 days away -- leaves thousands of citizens feeling disenfranchised and frustrated with the political process and the courts.

In a remarkable display of civic activism, more than 26,000 people petitioned for an election on whether Lexington should try to buy the water company through condemnation.


because we don't know if this quisling court will even allow us to vote, we are going to broaden our scope. Stay tuned folks, the war has just begun.

2. today a writer from California came by and interviewed us. He

is writing a companion book to the movie, "Thirst."

This is so good.

Our Green Corp volunteers are going to stay in town for at least another month to help us organize in our fight and to build cohesion between the various progressive groups.


Yeah, if you want to write the paper on this issue, I won't stop you. It is just outrageous that they are interfering in our right to vote.
