Iowa ...anyone?
Has anyone worked on Iowa at all?
I would like to dig a little, yet I don't want to do what has already been done.

Some counties strike me as odd.

Just curious.
Thanks for any input. Or if anyone would like to work with me a little on it, that would be great.

3. Someone posted about this yesterday.

See this thread.

Maybe you can find a candidate willing to do a recount, if it is not too late. A link to the statute governing recounts in Iowa is posted in the thread.

If you can find a way to do it, let me know. I may know Iowans who would help.

4. I looked into my county (pottawattamie)
This county went red (usually does for pres). We use optical scanning made by ES&S probably built right across the river in Omaha! 82 of the 99 counties in IA use optical scan - some are scanned at the precinct level but most (56) are centrally scanned.

But the problem here is that registered voters are:
Dem: 28.5%
Rep: 36.5%
No Party: 35%

The unofficial results for this county on Nov3 were:
Kerry: 40.7%
Bush: 58.5%
Other: 0.7%

How do you find irregularities when over a third of registrants have no party affiliation?

A recount has to be requested by the candidate and the deadline was Nov 12.
