How about a meet up for some incredible beer?
Here's the scoop from their mailing list:

Black Albert & Tsjeeses On Tap!

De Struise Night
Thurs, Jan. 15th @ 8 p.m.
Enjoy Two Rare Brews from One of Belgium's Finest Brewers

This year looks to be quite special when it comes to rare and hard-to-find beers. Kicking off the year is a special evening celebrating one of Belgium's finest breweries. Ranked as the best brewery in the world for 2008 by Rate Beer, De Struise is brewed in very small batches and is imported in extremely limited quantities.

On Thursday, January 15th, we will be tapping two of the brewery's best beers. "Black Albert" is a 13% ABV Russian Imperial Stout that ranks right up there with other highly regarded RIP's like Surly Darkness and Three Floyds Dark Lord. It pours pitch black, thick and viscous, and is best sipped slowly. As it warms, it opens up with sweet, roasty, chocolaty flavors that are simply sublime. It's a good thing this stuff ain't cheap, because at 13%, one could get in a lot of trouble. The second brew we'll be tapping is "Tsjeeses", a 10% Belgian Strong Pale Ale that's a winter seasonal, and nearly impossible to find on tap Stateside. A complex, fruity, spicy brew with a bold nose of wild Belgian yeast.

Both of these brews will be available in a very limited quantity, so be sure to make room in your schedule to stop by and enjoy some of the best beer on Earth.

Tapping January 15th, 2009:
De Struise Black Albert (Russian Imperial Stout, 13%)
De Struise Tsjeeses (Belgian Strong Winter Pale Ale, 10%)

Ok, here's the nitty-gritty...
- We'll be tapping "Black Albert" at 8 p.m. on January 15th.
- "Tsjeeses" will be available starting around 5 p.m. on January 15th.
- No reservations accepted for the Pub Room on 1/15/09.
- Parking might be a bit tight, so please carpool of possible.
- Additional parking available on the West side of Devon Ave, at DuPage Sew & Vac two doors east and at Midas across Ogden Avenue.

I know it's a Thursday night but the place has great food and the beer is incredible!!!

Message me if your interested,

Scuba

2. I'm sorry, I should have given an address.
The Bavarian Lodge is on Ogden Avenue (the same one in Chicago) in Lisle (pronounced like Lyle), a western suburb of Chicago. It lies very near two major expressways, I88 that goes East and west and I355 that goes North and South.

Here's a link: http://www.bavarian-lodge.com/Site/Home.html

If you have a few beers and a dinner you can get out for about $30 or so.

The super premium beers come in small glasses and are about $5 but they are very strong.

4. Hey, that would be great!
Other than you it looks like it'll be just me and my wife Babette unless there are DU lurkers out there ready to have some top rate brew! Hopefully we'll be in the Pub but occasionally it gets too full in there. Look for a guy with a beautiful Obama shirt on, not so patiently waiting for the day our guy takes office!

Best,
Scuba

Wish it could have worked out!

7. A review of the very lonely event!
Well, I must admit that the event at the Bavarian Lodge was a success.

Several of the worlds highest rated brews were tried. These include Fat Albert, a brew which I would give an "A" to after trying several times, Surley Smoke, TJeesus (which went straight to my heart), and the other one I forget what it is called...

No other DU members made themselves know to me, but the glares I got from the folks at the Bavarian Lodge, deep in the heart of DuPage County, the most Republican County of Illinois, made it worth the price of admission.

That is seeing that I had the best Obama shirt on imaginable. Even the head of the brew staff noted my VERY Pro Obama shirt and made it known that the next specialty beer they were opening for was called OBAMANATION, but the Feds made them change the name!

My shirt had a huge Obama pic on it and on the back it said "A NEW HOPE" "I WAS THERE WHEN CHANGE HAPPEN AT GRANT PARK NOV. 4TH 2008"

This is one of the rarest Obama shirts on the planet, and believe me, my great great grandkids, if I am so lucky to have them, will regard it with pride.

With a great happiness,
Scuba

8. I'm late to this thread - Sorry...
But I've been to this restaurant a couple of times. Great place! If I would have seen it earlier, we might have joined you. We're live on the opposite side of naperville - so it's not that far away from us. Did you happen to see my post about the Kendall Cty Inaugural Ball? I know it's late to sign up, but just thought I'd check. As of last weekend, there were close to 100 people already registered/paid to attend.

9. Thank you for the invite. I haven't seen your post but will search for it now.
I was a bit remiss in my post for the event at the Bavarian Lodge. I posted on the Illionis board a few days prior, not thinking that the Lounge would be a better place.

The Bavarian Lodge does these events quite often so next time I will post sooner and hopefully get a better response.

Best,
Scuba

11. If you remember, send me a PM next time.
I don't go to the lounge very often (limited time), but if the timing works out - my husband and I could get a sitter and come up one night and join in the fun.
