Census makes mistake in San Francisco
"If it suddenly seemed a lot more crowded on your Muni bus or at the neighborhood grocery store Friday, it's because an additional 34,209 people were suddenly found living here.

The U.S. Census Bureau admitted underestimating the city's 2007 population and raised it to 799,183, according to a statement from the mayor's office.

It's unclear how the bureau missed so many people. It's like forgetting Russian Hill.

So why do you care? Well, it means more federal and state money will come our way. How much we don't know yet, but it's likely worth millions of dollars. And we could use that about now."

It's amazing the things that can happen.

1. Expect more of these stories as the Obama administration takes charge
The census bureau has been under counting liberal leaning areas since Bush took office.
