California DUers-- please don't forget to vote tomorrow....
We must send der Ahnold as resounding a defeat as possible. His reelection candidacy hangs in the balance. Mike C's handy special election proposition reminder:

Vote NO on:

NO on Prop. 73-- Stealth anti-choice measure, amends the CA consititution to require parental notification. Imposes new penalties on physicians that perform abortions.

NO on Prop. 74-- Blames teachers for the republican administration's failed education polices and takes away their right to defend themselves. Lengthens the probationary periods of public shool teachers and makes it easier for school boards-- which are political office holders, often with NO education background-- to dismiss teachers.

NO on Prop. 75-- Silences the political voices of labor, without any similar restraints on corporations or share-holders. This is a very poison pill. PLease go to the polls tomorrow if for no other reason than to defeat this initiative. This is the centerpiece of the Governor's attack on nurses, firefighters, teachers, and other public service unions, but it will effectively silence ALL labor organizations.

NO on Prop. 76-- The "cut school funding act." Gives the Governor unprecidented cover for underfunding schools-- which it targets specifically. This is another facet of the attack on education and teachers. Ahnold must have had some bad experiences in school, because he seems to have a particular animosity toward teachers.

NO on Prop. 77-- Yet another republican attempt to control state redistricting, again by revising the CA constitution.

NO on Prop. 78-- Prescription medicine costs and discounts measure written by the drug companies. This is a very bad prescription!

Vote YES on:

YES on Prop. 79-- A genuine prescription discount benefits program for Califorians. The pharmaceutical industry has spent tens of millions lobbying against this initiative because it will acually help consumers (and reduce corporate profits). They say it will likely be tied up in court for years, and will not actually help anyone as a result-- what they don't say is that they are alteady lining up the lawyer to try and block it in court-- if it's tied up and unimplemented, it will be because of those same pharmacuetical companies.

YES on Prop 80-- Undoes some of the damage caused by utilities deregulation in the electric power industry. Also known as the "affordable electricity and preventing brownouts act," it subjects California electric energy providers to regulation by the California Public Utilities Corporation. See if you can guess who's fighting this initiative tooth and nail.

The ultimate humilation for Arnie would be defeating Props 73-78 and passing Props 79-80. PLEASE take the time to join me at the polls tomorrow and do your part to humiliate the gubernator. Polls open at 7:00 AM and close at 8:00 PM.

xoxo
Mike C.

2. I already voted absentee and sent it in, but thanks for
the reminder. Now I hope they count it. I sent a message loud and clear to Ahnold. It said, get out of Sacramento and go back to movieland.
