Boxer's lead over Jones is growing

By Alexa H. Bluth -- Bee Capitol Bureau
Published 2:15 am PDT Friday, May 28, 2004

U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer has more than doubled her lead over Republican challenger Bill Jones, who continues to struggle to grab voters' attention, according to a new statewide poll released Thursday.

Boxer is leading Jones 55 percent to 32 percent among likely voters surveyed in the latest Field Poll, with 12 percent of voters undecided in the Nov. 2 contest.

Jones, a Fresno rancher who served two terms as secretary of state, is attempting to block Boxer, a San Francisco Bay Area Democrat, from winning her third term in Washington.

But Boxer's lead has climbed from a 10-point advantage over Jones in February. She is holding a large lead over Jones in the Los Angeles and San Francisco areas, both Democratic strongholds, and also is leading him in the other major areas of the state, including the Republican-rich Central Valley, the poll found.

1. CA Dems--Don't take this race for granted
A Boxer rep came to our meetup last night. The campaign expects Jones to have more money and that the race will be very tight. Arnie will campaign for Jones and the attack ads will soon start. Boxer desperately needs volunteers!

3. It would seem that her stand on the Isaac Espinoza murder case isn't
hurting her popularity.

5. after the whole Harris thing
I'm holding my nose and voting for Boxer

her stance was nothing more than pandering--just like her stance on Newsom's allowing gay marriages in SF

6. Only one problem I have with Boxer
Boxer is receiving a lot of campaign funds from "Pro-Israel" and "Women for Israel"

I did a search a www.opensecrets.org and found that info in her 2004 campaign donors.

Also at that site, I noticed Feinstein is getting money from Northrup-Grumman.

Are these ladies going to stop the WARS?
