The Peace Rally in Birmingham yesterday and the Birmingham
News today.

I was able to go to the Stop the War Rally yesterday. There was a pretty good turn out with very little notice by our media prior to the Event.

I made a post and have pictures in GD.

This was our coverage in the News. Several of the local network affiliates were there and have had a few short segments this morning.

GIGI DOUBAN
News staff writer

More than 100,000 people showed up Saturday in Washington, D.C. to protest the war in Iraq, making it the largest antiwar protest in the nation's capital since the U.S. invasion.
>

The Birmingham rally at Kelly Ingram Park began with a march downtown, with some beating hand drums and others holding signs such as "G.W.B. is a W.M.D.," "Osama bin Forgotten" and "Stop Mad Cowboy Disease."
>
Presidents lie all the time," said David Gespass, chair of the Birmingham Peace Project, "but none with the consistency and shamelessness of this administration." Gespass predicted the U.S. will lose the war in Iraq. "This is not a war that can be won. As long as we occupy, there will be resistance."

>
Brandi Little, former Specialist in the U.S. Army during the Iraq war, gave teary antiwar testimony. Her army convoy partner was killed while the two drove to Baghdad. "What is the noble cause that he gave his life for?" she asked. "War is hell."
