Could someone help me find (Alabama Election Reform) Senate Bill 251?
Edited on Fri Apr-01-05 06:30 AM by Wilms
I saw a reference for it, without any link. The bill would be for Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail or Ballots.

I tried here Alabama Legislature, but couldn't get the site to work for me:

Thanks

1. SB251
Hi.

Looked it up but SB251 is a bill in committee to allow people to have firearms in their vehicle while on their employer's property.

I tried doing a search based on your information but there were about 300 bills that pulled up with those keywords when I did a search.

Do you happen to know who sponsored the bill or any other info.?

4. Thank you. That url helped me get onto that site.
I was looking for bills that concern paper ballots or paper trails, recounts, and voting security.

Here's what I dug up.

Thanks again.

Alabama

House Bill 217
http://alisdb.legislature.state.al.us/acas/searchableinstruments/2005rs/bills/hb217.htm
Under existing law, when the election returns for any public office reflect that a candidate is defeated or a statewide ballot measure is defeated by not more than one half of one percent of the votes cast, an automatic recount shall be held. This bill would provide that if a statewide ballot measure passes by less than one half of one percent, an automatic recount shall be held.

House Bill 529
http://alisdb.legislature.state.al.us/acas/searchableinstruments/2005rs/bills/hb529.htm
Under existing law, there are no provisions for ballot security which is essential for an accurate recount of the vote. This bill would provide for ballot security allowing the sheriff to obtain and secure the ballots in the event the returning officer of the precinct does not deliver the ballots to the sheriff within the time required by law.

House Bill 61
http://alisdb.legislature.state.al.us/acas/searchableinstruments/2005rs/bills/hb61.htm
Requires an automatic recount when, in a general election, the election returns reflect that a statewide ballot measure passes or is defeated by not more than one half of one percent of the votes cast for the ballot measure, as certified by the appropriate election officer.
Sponsor: Guin, et. al.
Status:

House Bill 496
http://alisdb.legislature.state.al.us/acas/searchableinstruments/2005rs/bills/hb496.htm
This bill would require the Secretary of State to issue an invitation to bid for uniform voting procedures, ballots, and equipment in each county, which must be tested and functional for the 2006 June primary election. The equipment would have to be in compliance with the federal Help America Vote Act (HAVA); would have to be tested and approved by the International Testing Association (ITA); provide a permanent paper record; and ensure anonymity. Each voting precinct would have to provide one piece of equipment or voting machine that complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Absentee balloting would be integrated with on-site and the ADA voting system.
Sponsor: Guin
Status: Pending action in the House Constitution and Elections Committee
