Hey! The Daily Show Was Taping At A NH Clark Event!
Who knows, maybe they'll use the footage :)

We left our house in Massachusetts at 6:30 this morning.... we arrived (Milford, NH) in plenty of time to grab some sandwich boards and signs and plant ourselves on both sides of the street across from the venue. Dedicated staffers and volunteers were already down the road, looking half frozen to death. But stalwart soldiers we all were!

I was undaunted for the first 20 minutes of standing in the -8 degree (plus windchill) temperatures... But by the 25th minute I announced I'd had quite enough, and went inside to man (or woman, I should say) the sign-up table at the rear entrance. As at all the events these past 10 days, the local denizens started pouring in by the carsful. Parking was nearly impossible, but no one entering complained. The place was overflowing.

Pancakes were already flipping as a cameraperson came in and asked if he could set his equipment down on the table. "Sure," I said, "who are you with?" "That guy," he responded, pointing to the sound man. Harumph, I thought, what a wiseacre. Later I learned it was the crew from The Daily Show, and the sarcasm was more greatly appreciated! The woman interviewer (sorry, I forget her name) was wandering around asking people plastered with Clark buttons who they were thinking of voting for. "Clark!" they'd respond. "No really," she'd say, "who are you REALLY going to vote for." Well ... watch for the Milford Pancake Breakfast sequence later this week on The Daily Show!

It's terrific to hear the stories from the Grassroots! Wish I could be there... I'm doing my bit locally here in NY though.e

6. Ruh Roh,
Nobody ever appears on a Daily Show segment without being satarized. I've rolled on the floor at some of their stuff on Dean. This should be good.

11. They must be doing it as a 'feature' bit.
For 'real' news, they almost always use bluescreen (in plainly satirical mode).

But they do have a woman whose name escapes me who does fantastic dead-pan absurdity. Hope its her.

OT - In my background, Dean is tearing 'em up on c-span.

17. Don't forget
The only candidate to announce his run for the presidency on "The Daily Show" was John Edwards.

He was on the show a few years ago, and Stewart asked Edwards if he was going to run for the presidency. Edwards said he wasn't sure yet, but if he decided to run, he would announce it on "The Daily Show".

Sure enough, when Edwards decided to announce, he came back to the show and lived up to his promise to announce his run for the presidency.
