Supreme Court - We should be hammering this!
Read this on the NJ For Kerry List (someone's tagline, I think):

"Four more years, or 40 more years? Your vote in November is not just a vote for President, but a new Supreme Court."

Wow, what a great line! Some liberal 527 should be running ads on this subject.

2. Could This Backfire?
I have long felt the Supreme Court/Judicial nominees was the #1 reason to vote for Kerry. Bu could this push some people of Conservative values into voting FOR Bush because they want to "protect" the flag and marriage?

It takes too long to explain to people about precedent. That an amendment to protect the flag could later be used to limit other forms of "Anti-American" expression. That an amendment stating that "marriage or legal incidents thereof" should not be extended to anything other than a union of one man and one woman, well, it could establish a legal basis to remove other rights of citizenship from homosexuals. That if our laws state life begins at conception could be used to not only jail women who seek an abortion, but limit or restrict abortions even in cases where the woman's life is believed to be in danger. That declaring school prayer constitutional may not in itself be a violation of the first amendment ("CONGRESS shall make no law" doesn't mean local governments can't) but does lead us one step closer to a state religion in theory if not in law. Besides, the whole gay marriage thing is all about religion - there is no logical reason or legal basis to be against homosexuals, it's all based on fear and/or religious beliefs. Some would justify discrimination against homosexuals as not violating the Fourteenth Amendment (that was supposed to give ALL persons born or naturalized citizenship and the rights thereof) because while people don't chose their race, ethnicity, gender they do choose to be gay. And while I won't try to convince them homosexuality is NOT a choice, I will sa that one's religion or faith certainly is a choice so if you can discriminate against homosexuals for what you see as their choice why couldn't we discriminate against Wiccans (Buddhists, Muslims, Jews) for their lifestyle choice?

OK - I've rambled. Some one condense that into a cohesive 60 second piece sufficient to persuade moderates.
