Poll question: Which channel will you watch for the debate
Okay the silliest question for tonight's debate (excluding which Hollywood makeup queen did George's hair and John's tan) is which channel you will watch the debate on

I've got my Tivo Set for MSNBC because I will be home late.

7. I'm watching two tvs
C-span because they always show it straight and on the other I'll be flipping between Faux and the others to see if they play tricks with the camera.

14. From what I've heard on Air America
Fox is providing all of the camera coverage tonight. Networks will choose what to air from what Fox provides.

Personal tics have dogged candidates in debates past, like the heavy sighs emitted by Al Gore while listening to George W. Bush in 2000 or the first President Bush's glance at his watch in 1992.

Viewers watching at home may not see such breaches in etiquette this year because, according to an agreement between the two campaigns, the cameras must stay fixed on the candidate answering the question posed by the moderator. A Democratic official said it's a detail added by Bush's negotiators.

A Republican who was privy to the debate negotiations said the Bush camp's aim had been to take away some of Kerry's strengths, such as the former prosecutor's ability to move about.

But the television networks plan to ignore the rule about camera shots.

"We're providing all the networks' coverage and we're not going to follow directions from outside sources," said Paul Schur, a spokesman for Fox News Channel. The network is operating the cameras at Thursday's debate and is expected to provide feeds from several different cameras, giving each network discretion on which shots to air.
~~

I like your idea. It would be interesting to flip channels to see if there are any substantial differences besides commentary, even if all of the cameras are provided by Fox.

The reason I'm avoiding networks and watching CSPAN is because I don't want to hear the talking heads telling me what to think during or after the debates. I can make up my own mind.

9. CSPAN. I prefer to watch the debates and determine for myself
what they meant and who won. I don't been Blitzer or O'Reilly to tell me.

Also the invasion of Afghanistan....of Iraq...

He has a very calming effect on me, LOL.
I'll catch his lead in (if any?), and the first few bits afterwards with him, then I'll flip round to CSPAN (I'm calling) and Comedy Central (??? If the TDS is around).

If I gather that Kerry has smacked Bush down so hard he can barely sneer, then I'll turn to EVERY channel just to hear it over and over.
:)

Plus, I do love Mickey Mouse.

12. I'm "watching" it right here on DU
I'm not sure I've ever told you how you all have saved my life. I watch DU to learn if something is worth watching before I turn on the TV. It has saved me from Tweety when he's bad (95% of the time it seems) and all the other crap that drives me nuts.

I always watch Olberman and Stewart but that's it!

But they are tape delaying it here (on the west coast) until 9, so I will watch C-SPAN.

16. C-SPAN, always,
for anything important. I don't need some talking head blabbering on and telling me what I should think about what I just saw, or worse, interrupting something I might find important for their assinine commentary.

19. I'd watch it on CBS, but I don't think they're showing it.
My TV listings say they're showing Survivor and CSI, their regular Thursday shows. Is that a misprint?

21. According to the cable guide all the networks are carrying the debate.

Don't know why I posted this. The debate starts in about 8 minutes.
