Rupert Murdoch is running all the cameras for the debate. Beware.
Edited on Tue Sep-28-04 11:00 PM by w4rma

The camera angles may seem like a small point, but campaigns know they offer potential embarrassing moments. Cameras caught President Bush's father, George H.W. Bush, checking his watch during one debate and Al Gore sighing during answers given by George W. Bush during a 2000 debate.

As part of a pool for all the networks, Fox News Channel is operating the cameras at Thursday's debate, scheduled for the University of Miami campus.

"We're providing all the networks' coverage and we're not going to follow directions from outside sources," said Paul Schur, Fox News Channel spokesman.

Fox is expected to provide each network with feeds from several different cameras, giving them each discretion on which shots to air.

Someone there at the debate needs to watch those cameramen like hawks. There are all sorts of funny things that they can do with cameras to give folks a bad feeling. Miscolorations. Interesting lighting setups. Funny angles. Etc. etc. Expect them to try to give Bush all of the best lighting and camera angles.

3. Kerry's team of Shaheen, Shrumm and Cahill
are the ones to blame. Jordan was following what this team wanted. Shaheen made a half assed comment that they didn't care about the details they just wanted the 3 debates ( worthless inept fools ). Already shrubs camp has said they aren't sure they will do the other 2 debates because the debate commission never signed the contract as outlined. What they are hoping for is this first NONdebate ( Kerry can't ask shrub any questions and all comments have to be kept to 15 minutes or a series of large colored lights will go off...fucking crazy ) is they want shrub to breeze thru the foreign policy schedule and never show up for Domestic policy. Once again the Dems totally fucked this up.

9. You're preaching to choir, bro.
When did the Kerry campaign put together a rapid-response war room a la Clinton?

August.

Jeez, you'd think that they've been busy re-inventing the wheel.

If one of those over-paid bozos had read "Bush's Brain" then they'd known what to expect. Did they sleep through the Clinton years? Did they believe that Bush would play by Marquis de Queensbury rules of gentlemanyly pugilistics?

Arghhhhhhhh!

29. Flashing Lights? Not good for Shrubbies epileptic fits
I assume you meant response are supposed to be kept to 15 seconds, not 15 minutes. And this thing with lights going off if they go over the time limit. Actually Kerry could go over a few times, get those lights to flashing and provoke one of shrubbies face-falling fits?

32. You are so right on this. I thought the Dem. leaders had changed
and gotten some testicles. It seems it's the same old story. I don't want to be pessimistic. Really I don't. I've been telling my pessimistic friends that the 10 to 12 point spread is wrong, that Bush being ahead at this stage doesn't matter, etc., etc. But this first debate is THE debate. To let Fox control the cameras was a HUGE mistake and should never have been agreed to. The Republicans deserve to win, if they are this good at manipulation and control. (I just wish they could manipulate and control the terrorists and the budget better.)

Sh*t. I was so anxious that I didn't want to watch the non-debate in the first place. But I decided to. I even signed up for the after-debate media thingie. But now.....(this has me upset, obviously).

2. Jesus! how the hell did this happen?
They spent nitpicking over the thermostat temperature, but the Democrats let Murdoch be in control of the cameras? WTF?? they will probably have a camera stationed under Bush's podium so they can occasionally check in on his package...

4. Gore sighing and Bush looking at his watch wasn't because of Camera's
though . they might have been hurt by it since the camera caught it. but it's something that happened , that they did on their own.

17. unbelievable !!!!
Of all stations being in charge of cameras ,they let it be Fox. Iam not familar with all of the rules ,however its a givin that bush is not fast on his feet when thrown off by a question he wasnt prepared for, apprently there is no way that will happen since they cant ask eachother ?'s ,what kind of debate is this, are they trying to make it as boring as possible for the viewers ,to help with a repuk talking point on Kerry being dull and boring. Kerry should have went to President Clinton and begged him to be in charge of his bid for President. Sometimes I really wonder whats going on in the mind of those Kerry has running things. I keep hoping they have some grand plan ,however Iam getting discouraged about that ,if they do ,when are they going to break it out ,after the election ? With bushes terrible record in office ,you would think they could have a field day, instead it appears as if they have no idea on the correct plan of attack .Now I understand its hard when no matter what you try gets torn apart by the media. Since thats the case ,they should always remember the media is not their friend ,and keep a eye on all of them . All I know is something has to give ,or the fat lady is starting to warm up her voice ! Sorry I sound so negative , however I believe Iam being a realist ! Please dont let this diasaster of a pResident get elected !

the feed inside the 'booth' would be 'cue angelic music and gregorian chants softly' as smirk's face comes into view, subliminal flashes of Flipper when Kerry's face is on, a soft white light around smirk, super duper contrast on Kerry to make him look like a mannequin, cameras on smirk while Kerry is speaking, an image of Jesus behind smirk as the 'chosen one'...

Geez. :mental note: stock up on alcohol.

30. And gee, all they have to do...
to get their boy out of the next two debates is "break the rules." I mean, isn't that what Bush is threatening? That he'll back out of the remaining debates if any of the "rules" are broken - including, of course, the "rules" about what camera shots and angles are allowed.

Of course, Fox would NEVER use their power to provide a partisan advantage for their boy bu*sh**.

31. Happy to See I'm Not Alone With This.
w4rma, lighting and color gamesmanship can shade Kerry greenish, orangish, yelowish, etc.

Watch for subtle, but discoloration of Kerry.

They control the cameras. They will take advantage of it.

34. Are we trying to lose?
The power of cameras has been plain since the Kennedy-Nixon debates, and Kerry's people hand the reins to Faux News? Why don't we just tell Kerry to forget the TV makeup, stop shaving, turn off the A/C, look at his watch, tell a few jokes, and then break into song?
