2. this sounds like something Rove would do
but it could backfire on Bush if Kerry shows up alone on stage.

3. If he misses a debate, it will be that one
because he will be scared to death of the people actually getting to ask him questions. That is, if they aren't screened first. They are supposed to be undecided voters from the St. Louis metropolitan area. Folks, if the crowd is lily white, we know that they were hand picked.

7. There's one thing I heard this morning that puts a little control on it.
Noone said the questions would be screened, but it's in the debate contract that the questions would all be submitted to the ,oderator before the debate, and if a questioner deviates from the question he submitted, the must stop the questioner, and have him/her return to the one submitted, or be dismissed.

15. No, no , no!
The greatest debater in the history of mankind is afraid of NOTHING! He is so agile of thought and erudite of fact, if he begs out of the debate, it will be only out of sympathy to the less expert opponent because, as we all realize, he is, of course, famously so very compassionate.

4. I'll bet no. You're forgetting shrub is a very arrogant cuss.
If you asked if his handlers are scared, my answer would be YES! But I also think they know the debate would have to rescheduled, or the Dems would be blasting CHICKEN all over the place!!!

every story about his cowardice and stupidity are true.

But I heard that even those questions are going to be screened by a panel of some clowns that think they have the right to decide what the public should ask and that if they deviate from their question or add onto it there will be no discussion on their particular point. Is this true?

edit: extremely bad grammer.

8. He only lacks physical courage, when his ass is on the line.
Like avoiding Viet Nam. He can bullshit all day, as long as he has secret service protection.

6. Won't happen. All the questions are pre-screened and there
must be a certain percentage in each category.

That means the questions will pass through enough hands that Bush can get them in advance.

9. No... don't think so...

There will be an emergency two or three days before it.

11. The questions may have been submitted in advance.
But Kerry's answers haven't. He's a sharp debater and he can take the topic anywhere he wants. Answer the initial question in 30 seconds and take the other minute and a half to lambaste him on whatever he wants.

12. Sad, Rosco, but Dubya hasn't let the last few
terra alerts change his plans. On Sunday, August 1, when all hell broke loose with the NY, NJ, DC alerts and simultaneous press conferences all over the place, I guess Dubya was upstairs at the White House watching a baseball game on the plasma TV. We never heard a PEEP out of him.

Seems to me, on a day when National Security is getting a major shakeup, the President should get off his ass and into makeup and sit in front of the flags and say a few encouraging words to a fearful nation.

I find it very troubling that every time there is a REAL or FAUX crisis that might appear to jeopardize the "safety" of the "homeland," shrub is nowhere to be found.

On another note, I am so OVER these "town meetings" being scripted to the letter. The only ones who learn anything from these empty exercises are the candidates who have to learn their lines -- sorry, I'm wrong; shrub has his fed in through his earpiece. (It was very obvious at the "joint appearance" with Allawi yesterday -- anyone else notice?)
