Irsay Won't Vote For Limbaugh To Buy Rams

Conservative Commentator Angling To Buy St. Louis Franchise

POSTED: 5:38 pm EDT October 13, 2009

BOSTON -- Colts owner Jim Irsay said he doesn't want Rush Limbaugh to buy the St. Louis Rams.

Irsay said at the NFL owners' meetings Tuesday he wouldn't vote to approve the radio talk show host.

Several players have said they wouldn't want to play for the conservative commentator.

Limbaugh was forced to resign from ESPN's Sunday night football in 2003 after making comments the league felt were racially insensitive.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said the league doesn't want its owners making divisive statements. But Goodell said he wouldn't judge Limbaugh's prospective ownership because the current Rams owners haven't even said for sure they will sell the team.

4. that was one of the all time great moment in tv
They had Rushbo segregated from the other guys, Pigboy goes off on McNabb and Tom Jackson looks like he is going to run over and beat the shit out of pigboy, Michael Irvin appears to be in shock, considering what would happen if he pummeled pigboy on live TV, and Steve Young although in semi shock, grabs the other two guys by the arm and states something like "I got this one guys." He then goes off on Rush telling him that he was an All Pro QB and won a Super Bowl and McNabb is a great talent and you (pigboy) don't know shit.

ESPN cut to commercial and pigboy was off the set when they returned. My guess is that the three knowledgeable analyst walked in the next day and let the execs know, if pigboy returns, we walk.

5. I couldn't exactly remember what the comment was
so I looked it up. Thanks for telling us what went down after "pigboy's" stupid remark.

<snip>

"Limbaugh said on Thursday he stepped down late Wednesday from the show "Sunday NFL Countdown" to protect the network from the uproar caused by his statement that Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb was overrated because the media wanted to see a black quarterback succeed.

McNabb said Wednesday that he didn't mind criticism of his performance, but was upset that Limbaugh made his race an issue and said it was too late for an apology.

"It's somewhat shocking to hear that on national TV from him," McNabb said. "It's not something that I can sit here and say won't bother me."

On Thursday, Limbaugh told the National Association of Broadcasters at a convention in Philadelphia, "The great people at ESPN did not want to deal with this kind of reaction."

At the convention Limbaugh did not directly address questions about his name being linked by law enforcement sources to an investigation into a black market drug ring in Palm Beach County, Florida."
