Oklahoma: proud to be the most backward, RW extremist state in the nation
Edited on Thu Oct-08-09 09:22 AM by ProSense

New Oklahoma law will publicy post details of women’s abortions online.

On Nov. 1, a law in Oklahoma will go into effect that will collect personal details about every single abortion performed in the state and post them on a public website. Implementing the measure will “cost $281,285 the first year and $256,285 each subsequent year.” Here are the first eight questions that women will have to reveal:

  1. Date of abortion
  2. County in which abortion performed
  3. Age of mother
  4. Marital status of mother
(married, divorced, separated, widowed, or never married)
  5. Race of mother
  6. Years of education of mother
    (specify highest year completed)
  7. State or foreign country of residence of mother
  8. Total number of previous pregnancies of the mother
    Live Births
    Miscarriages
    Induced Abortions
more

11. They do realize it's possible to miscarry without even knowing you're pregnant, right? So there's
really no point in asking?

And of course they put "mother" instead of woman. ARRRRRGH.

I am kicking and reccing in hopes that more people see this post. It's traumatizing enough to have to go through that, but to have everyone know who you are is just damn sick and could be dangerous for the women on that list.

29. Need his name, address, phone number and congressional district,
Also last known place of employment. How many past abortions paid for or requested. Is he up to date on his child payments to any and all moms out there actual and potential. This law must be overturned. More laws like this will be passed unless the laws take it to the fathers as well. If the birthmom to be doesn't know who the father is, let her list the potentials and let the potentials sort it out. Women and progressive men need to turn these laws on their head by making it as onerous for the dads as the moms. And,lastly, if the potentials need help sorting it out, make the arbitrators the wives and girl friends of the potentials sitting as a panel.

25. Sorry OK is nuttier than TX.
Edited on Thu Oct-08-09 03:01 PM by juno jones
When I lived in Amarillo, many of my friends were native OK'ers who couldn't stand how conservative OK was. So they moved to TX pan-freaking-handle, go figure.

TX will fuck you sideways if you're poor and then allow some stray nut with a 'legal' gun to shoot you. OK is much scarier because of the bible nuts involved in govt. Name your poison.

I speak only because I have bellied up to that bar, looking for jobs in all the wrong places. ;)

I've known lotsa OK-born people in TX and CA and WA. They were all, well, OK. But most would never go home except to visit and they always seemed relieved to return to modern civilization.

Hubby is from OK and I am from MO. We live in WA state now and love it. You could not pay me to move back home, hell no. I can only visit for a week at a time. I'm sorry OK and MO DU'ers but I cannot stand those two states. Rural MO is pretty similar to OK.

North Hollywood, CA. I don't know how they could possibly do this because of the new HIPPA laws. It makes absolutely no sense and my understanding is that it's actually against the law.

39. I called the OK Dept of Tourism this morning and told them that we have called for a national
boycott of the state, as we did in SD. They hate women that much, they don't need any of our money, EVER.

I have friends there, who have been told that they have to come visit me-- I will not cross the border into that state.

I wonder how the male legislators would feel if we could pass a law that all men had to give dna samples, so that whenever a woman was pregnant, we would KNOW the sperm donor, and immediately start with the child support stuff.
