19. what he has to do -- publicly and repeatedly -- is take on the corporations . . .

until he (or someone) stands up and tells it like it is vis-a-vis corporate power in this country and the absolute need to regulate and control it, nothing of any importance is going to change . . . from "defense" contractors to agribusiness to energy conglomerates to healthcare and pharmaceutical behemoths to banks and lending companies, every major problem facing this nation can be traced directly to the constant press for more and more profits by these giants -- which, btw, write the very laws that supposedly regulate them . . .

- think we should get out of Afghanistan? . . . won't happen while the arms dealers are raking in the dough . . .

- believe that all beef should be tested for e coli before being sold to consumers? . . . won't happen as long as the corporations are calling the shots . . .

- think alternative energy and conservation are the answers to the energy crisis? . . . not as long as the oil companies can manipulate prices up and down to further boost their unconscionable profits . . .

and on . . . and on . . . and on . . .

unless and until corporate power (and its egregious misuse) is fully exposed and dealt with severely, whatever ails us as a nation will continue to ail us -- and continue to get worse, and worse, and worse . . . predatory capitalism is what's killing this country and what will bring it down -- unless the brakes are applied and the perpetrators reigned in . . .
