Dear Mr. President, As a supporter and great admirer, I am sending you this brief note to express how disappointed I am that Mr. Van Jones was allowed to resign his position in your administration.
Based on facts presented, I believe Mr. Jones has no more than expressed his right to free speech, to stand up for justice as he sees fit, to demand transparency and accountability from the government of this great country, and to use the American free enterprise system to express a viewpoint – a great American tradition for creating peaceful change. These rights are fundamental to the greatness of this country; they are rights upon which this country has always based our claim of moral superiority. If he, along with all citizens of this country, does not have the rights he has exercised, then we have lost any claim we ever had to moral superiority.
Mr. President, please consider the precedent that is being set here. If you allow attacks such as those orchestrated against Mr. Jones to rob you of your staff, they will not stop. Those attacks will continue until you are forced to replace every staff member, and then replace those replacements. You will be left with nothing but four years of instability. Just how effective can you be in such circumstances?
Therefore, I implore you to call on Mr. Jones to return to his position, and to not allow any future such unjust attacks on your staff to result in resignations.
Mr. President, thank you for your attention.

I feel this is a very important matter that must not be allowed to slide by without protest. I hope others will also write in protest.
