The GOP wants to repeal Medicare!

Otherwise they have no reason to vote against health care reform.

16. He filled in for Chris Matthews
for several nights this week and he has been great.

O'Donnell guest hosted on Hardball a few weeks ago when Matthews was in Africa, and he was amazing. I hoping that MSNBC is considering giving him his own show. He is smart as they come and emanates integrity - no showboating or sucking up to guests.

18. Damn -- missed it.
I've been really impressed when I've seen him previously (subbing for Matthews). And you're right -- no showboating or sucking up to guests -- and he takes no prisoners! And he treated that chick who was at the Town Hall (who's since been making the circuit) with so much respect and he actually listened to her, didn't talk all over her like Tweety would. I'm hoping with you that he'll get his own show. :hi:

19. I've written to MSNBC twice to praise him
I was SO impressed with the way he treated "that chick", but he still made his point. When dealing with people like congressmen and senators who know better, he takes off the gloves. AND they know that he knows what he's talking about, having worked in congress.

Hopefully someone will post the video of today's show. Everyone was raving about it. I've been pushing O'Donnell around here for a while now. Maybe we should start a fan club!

20. I'll write MSNBC, too - good idea. We don't need a re-run of Tweety every day, even
though I'm one of the probably only 3 people on the planet who likes Tweety.

I'll also write to them about Rachel. I think they're of the same caliber. In comparison, KO seems more like a commentator (well, I guess that's what he IS) and Tweety seems to be just there to stir up the pot on Today's Hot Topic, but with Rachel and O'D, I feel like I'm learning something. They help me understand.

I'll go to MSNBC's site and see if they have clips of today's shows up yet. And yeah, the good ones usually always end up here.

I'll join the club!

21. I like Tweety too
but he can drive me nuts. He is so erratic and often irrational, not too mention a big self-promoter. I hate the way he won't let people answer his questions because he's too busy expounding on his own great insights.

I love Rachel too. Very fair and reasonable, as well as informative. I can't believe how many conservatives she gets on her show and she handles the interviews beautifully.

11. If they're against Socialism they MUST repeal Medicare because it IS Socialism.
If they don't want to repeal Medicare, then they are in the position of saying "Socialism is okay for some, but not for others" - see my post below on that point.

25. It's asking them to be consistent and demand repeal of everything that's socialism
That includes Medicare. They like Medicare because it works for them but they would deny health care reform for the rest of us because they call it "socialism".

Asking them to demand the repeal of Medicare is a way of making them realize that there are aspects of socialism that they embrace. We can add more to the list of what comes under the umbrella of socialism:
municipal playgrounds and parks
roads and road repair
road signs and traffic signals
fire & police departments
dams built by the federal gov't
schools
municipal hospitals
the military
VA
museums
local trains, buses and lite rail
municipal water and sewer systems
libraries

Medicare is what people are highlighting because so many elderly are showing up to town halls demanding and end to health care reform.

Hope this helps.

8. Last week I asked a town hall hollerer
why she wanted to take my health care away. She was carrying a big sign reading "No socialism!" So when I asked her that question, she answered that she didn't want to take away my health care. I assured her that Medicare, like the VA, is socialist. She assured me that I was stupid. And she shook her sign at me as she stomped off. Oooooooo. . .

10. This IS ABSOLUTELY the correct approach.
It also puts them in the position of saying something such as "Medicare for some, but not for others." Primarily, that turns into Younger Generations paying for medical care for older generations, but getting no assurance that anything will be there for them when they need it.

Fucking WON'T work!

14. Yes he did. And, a vote in the house prior to O'Donnell
also demonstrated their hypocrisy. Rep. Anthony Weiner introduced a bill to repeal medicare and not ONE person voted in favor.

Kofinis is a terrific spokesperson for the Democratic party.
