The possible downside to this whole "Bill Clinton goes to North Korea" thing
I have no problem with him going, and certainly not with the results, but given President Obama's track record of attempting "bipartisanship"........

Does this mean we're stuck with Poppy or Chimpy the next time something like this happens? :scared:

1. Hardly....
I don't think Obama is a fool. He may be reaching out a bit more than I would like, but it remains to be seen where he will draw the line on the "bipartisanshp"-- I suspect that line is rapidly emerging.

But, Obama is not a stupid man. He's not going to turn foreign affairs over to a REPUG.

2. I don't see bush doing anything in the future, either on the world stage...
or nationally. For one thing, he's the laziest Executive we've ever had; when you add that he is incredibly stupid and pretty well despised the world over, he'd be lucky if he got away w/being tossed into a dumpster w/a rabid weasel.

The man is a pariah.

As for Gramps, not much there either. While he holds some prestige as a former president, he's seen as a doddering oaf. The whole family is filled w/cretins and miscreants...no hope for them at all...:hi:

17. Given the way Obama's been filling positions lately, he might put him
charge of the Department of Energy.

5. No.
I'm fairly sure that Obama's well aware of Chimpy's lack of diplomatic finesse.

He knows Clinton's got this legendary ability to charm anyone, so that's who he sent--and look how it paid off.

8. NO.
you are underestimating Barack Obama AND Hillary Clinton.

We will never have ANY Bush being asked to do what Bill did today. I have had a lot of problems with him, but I have always loved his ability to be charismatic and diplomatic -- these are HUGE assets when it comes to being a leader. Bill Clinton is a leader.

Hillary is married to the man -- she knows his strengths. President Obama also is aware of this, she is his SoS. Bill and Barack are both charismatic people. Our president knows when to tap the right people for the job... I think this is a classic example of this.

Bill Clinton used those abilities to bring Americans home. BRAVO!

9. Bored with life, eh?
This may have been the stupidest question I've seen here today. Right up there with "Why doesn't Obama just release the birth certificate so they will shut up?"

Yep. A very close second.

Read again. I never equated you with any of those things. Never. I merely said your question was as stupid as that birther question. And it is. I stand by my assessment of your stupid post.

I'm not now nor have I ever been a cheerleader. You are full of shit, however.

12. Um....no. Bush and co clearly could not handle diplomacy and its a dumb question.
And North Korea WANTED Bill Clinton to come...not Poppy (who is really too old at this point) nor his no good son. They wanted the last guy who was popular around the world, an actual Democrat.

13. So in other words.....
Bipartisanship is useless when you already KNOW the other team has no interest in doing the right thing, and that includes not wasting time with "not actual" Democrats.

Great..... I couldn't agree more. Now lets apply that to health care. The insurance corporations are Kim Jung Loony. The American people are the hostages. Single Payer is the "Big Dog" in this case (as ironic as that analogy may be considering Hillary's adoption of Romneycare)

14. I think we have more to worry with the blue dogs then the Rethugs
Edited on Wed Aug-05-09 12:58 AM by Jennicut
And its the blue dogs that want to cooperate with the Rethugs. Health care is more complicated than simple diplomacy. At least all the Dems worked together on that one. How do you get the blue dogs to vote for a strong public option is the question? Remember, back in 1993 the conservative Dems made Clinton's life hell too. They never seemed to go away.

19. Poppy maybe but never Chimpy, but more importantly what type of fucking idiot. . .
. . .is going to let PARTISANSHIP get in the way of a mission that serves the people of this country and in this particular case resulted in two American journalists being released.

We won't be seeing either of them doing anything but tending to their respective criminal jungles and occasionally jumping out of airplanes.
