Biden Visits With His Son in Iraq

Hello from the U.S. embassy in Iraq. I'm here traveling with Vice President Joe Biden on a two-day visit to the country as the administration's point man overseeing the U.S. pull out from some Iraqi cities.

Bringing a big smile to the vice president's face? Seeing his son, Capt. Beau Biden, a Judge Advocate General in the Delaware National Guard and the state's attorney general, who has been deployed in Iraq.
This morning they saw each other over breakfast.
I asked the vice president how having his own son serving in Iraq has changed his view of the situation.
"I was involved with Iraq long before my son got here but since he's gotten here it makes me realize the kind of sacrifices the military families are making," Biden told me. "Beau was talking to me last night, he was pointing out the multiple deployments have caused significant divorce rates…they're real human problems that these deployed forces have."
The vice president will participate in a special ceremony here in Iraq on July 4th, helping to swear in some member of the military as they become U.S. citizens.
