I think it's unfortunate that O decided to duel the speech, altho I understand why he did it. I don't buy the "that's the only day that fit into his schedule" story. I think it was to steal Cheney's thunder and not let Cheney get his hooks into yet more people. It seemed to work. But it had the unfortunate side effect of giving Cheney status that he doesn't deserve.

Why the hell does a former VP get speech time on all the major cable stations, anyway?
