Wow, Glenn Beck is being HAMMERED on The View....

I had to watch when I saw he was going to be on there...lol...praying something of SUBSTANCE would be dealt with.

Well, that is yet to be seen, but his first segment (it's a commercial now), was Barbara and Whoopie calling him a LIAR.

On the way to the correspondent's dinner, they evidently ran into one another on Amtrak. That following Monday, Beck -- on his radio show (do all these right-wingers have radio shows?) -- made up this story, putting Whoopie and Barbara in a really unflattering light.

They called him on the carpet and asked why he would make shit up? He had to admit that what he said wasn't true (as far as how he portrayed them).

Then Barbara (wow, you can tell she planned this setup) asked him, "Aren't you an investigative reporter, don't you check facts?"

He said, no, he's not an investigative reporter.

"Aren't you a journalist?"

He said, nope, not a journalist. He said, "I'm a commentator. I commentate -- " (lol) " on daily life."


She then said, oh, so you NEVER CHECK THE FACTS OF WHAT YOU TALK ABOUT TO YOUR AUDIENCE?

Exposing these friggin pundits and commentators as never dealing in facts and reality.

I'm not a fan of Barbara Walters, but when she wants to get someone, she does a good job of it. He really screwed up by dissing them -- AFTER meeting them for the first time and knowing he was coming on the show.

14. BW is a REPORTER. That's why she's so good at getting on people.

I think she's great. The sum total of her career is that she's a Profile in Courage and a pioneer for gender equality. People forget that she will be EIGHTY this September, because she looks so good and she's still sharp as a tack.

She had a helluva time coming up. People don't remember how Harry Fucking Unreasonable Reasoner used to sneer at her when she was the first woman co-anchor on the news. People forget that, back in the day, women were only "allowed" to talk about fashion, gossip and cooking--and maybe report on the fluff stories, like, say, a spelling bee or a quilting competition. "Hard news" was for "men," you see. Helen Thomas was a distinct oddity, and of course, she was never.... allowed on the TEE VEE!!!

I am a fan of pioneers and people who buck the odds, catch crap, and persevere. She was a path-clearer, a way paver. I give her credit.

The format of "The View" doesn't usually lend to her expertise, and thus her personality quirks can be irritating to me personally.

Maybe they will morph into areas our actual NEWS programs dare to go, with Barbara's prompting.
