God help me if I'm ever injured in an accident or get a catastrophic illness. And Obama makes sure that single-payer advocates are completely shut out of health care reform talks? Just what "real life" impact am I missing out on? I AM the real life impact.

I have a credit card that I don't use very often because, given the nature of credit card companies in this country, I carry it around as I would a live grenade. And now it's legal for my credit card company to boost my interest rate to 98% if they feel like it, for no reason and without telling me about it. THAT impacts ME.

The same Constitutional provisions that are eviscerated by these military tribunals were put there to protect ME. (They were put there to protect you, too, but if that doesn't bother you, that's your affair.) I am the real life impact of that, too.

Your statement may not be the stupidest thing I've ever seen posted on DU, but it's in the top two.

And I'm always surprised at the people griping about the photo threads because something or other has happened to displease them. Probably the same folks who yell at people celebrating holidays when the world is not yet perfect.

I for one have no trouble enjoying the heck out of the photo threads and then sending letters off to the white house the same day protesting some objectionable (to me) decision.
