My hour with the nutty tea-baggers in Kansas!

It was worse than I thought it would be. These people are the extreme right wing nuts. I mean really extreme.

I wandered to the Johnson County Community College campus in Overland Park and hung out about an hour.

I would say 50% were there just because they HATE Obama. Nothing else. They had signs comparing him to an asshole. Lots of signs saying he is stupid without a tele-prompter. Lots of signs saying he was a Muslim. Lots of people comparing the USA to the USSR. I was surprised about the hatred.

The police officer said they were expecting 2000-4000 and estimated the crowd at 1000.

I heard speakers talk about how Texas is trying to break from the union and that it was a good idea.

I heard more people yell 'Thank you Jesus' than I have heard in a long time. There were a lot of religious signs also.

I talked to about 15 people. And got no real answers to these questions:

What about the Bush and Reagan Deficit? Were you protesting then?
How is this taxation without representation (based on signs they were holding) when you can vote?
How are you upset at Obama's taxes when he cut them for 98% of America and Reagan had a higher rate?

I honestly mean I got NO real answers. Just a comment about Obama being a fake or a comment how I was drinking the kool aid in supporting him.

And, it came as no surprise that I only saw 2 non-white people and one was a photographer for a local paper. It looked like the Repub Convention.

I'll say about 20% were really mad about the deficit and blaming both the Dems and the GOP for the issue.

The nutty people are the same ones who still have Bush stickers on their cars. I saw a lot of cars with McCain/Palin stickers on them.

I saw one sign when I was leaving that said "It's called Democracy Folks". I think she was on our side!

It was fun and I love calling people out on crap that makes no sense.

5. Like it or not, it is democracy and it is free speech.

The same consideration our side demanded when * was playing at being president. We need to remember this. We may not like what we are hearing from these people, but they do have the right to express themselves. If they cross the line to action, then I would hope we would see the appropriate response by the nation and the Justice Department.
