Daily Howler declares war on Olbermann and Maddow
It seems that the Daily Howler (http://www.dailyhowler.com) has decided to go to war with Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow. On Friday Bob Somerby went as far as to make this outrageous statement, "At present, we think the disintegration of our liberal cable programs is the most important story in media."
Now I believe in truth and don't think anyone right or left should be allowed to spout propaganda but Somerby is devoting all this week's columns to going after Olbermann and Maddow. Neither Olbermann or Maddow claim to be journalists, they call themselves commentators and admit to using humor and satire. A fact that Bob Somerby seems to be purposely ignoring.
At a time when the right-wing MSM misinformation machine seems to operating in overdrive it seems strange that Somerby would spend so much time going after the only liberals in the media. If he just wants to go after GE why not go after CNBC or MSNBC's 'Fox & Friends' wannabe Morning Joe.
This is sad because the Daily Howler use to be a must read for liberals wanting to fight right-wing propaganda in the MSN. But now Somerby seems more consumed with avenging Hillary Clinton's failed presidential bid than anything else.

7. Not saying that he has to like them or even give them a pass
but why spend so much time attacking them when there are far worse offenders out there and on more important issues. I mentioned Morning Joe in my original post, every morning both hosts of that show spout off GOP talking points as if they are facts. I'd much rather see Somerby go after them than Rachel Maddow and Ana Marie Cox for a segement the is meant to humorous.

6. What other "liberal cable programs" is he speaking of?
The only liberal cable shows I can get on my teevee are on MSNBC and PBS (Moyers). We don't have Free Speech TV as a choice around here.

8. Which makes me question why
Somerby is devoting a week of columns to attacking Olbermann and Maddow.

9. Maddow said without evidence that Obama dropped "war on terror" term
That is the reason of the criticism against Maddow.
Let's get used to provide context and in depth analysis before accusing someone of a wrongful attack.

Another suggestion would be to read Somerby's column and listen to Maddow's words before taking sides.

11. But there are degrees
Rachel Maddow saying that Obama dropping "war on terror" term just seems inconsequential to me. There is far worse misinformation in the MSM. Why is Somerby focusing on something so trivial?

12. It has NOTHING to do with avenging Hillary's failed presidential bid
This jerk is irrelevant.

What he's doing is called "writing flamebait in order to drive traffic to one's site."

The reason he is "going after" KO and Rachel is because he hopes to get called out by one of them and hence drive traffic back to his site and maybe get some time on the teevees.

What a loser. It's so transparent and lame.

And don't bother posting the links anymore, because I won't be clicking on it and I hope nobody else does either.

13. I agree
Ignore him and eventually he will slither away. He can only drop Al Gores name so many times.

Sad, I used to LOVE the Daily Howler.

14. How ironic.
Somerby often calls people out for pretending to be able to discern the hidden motives of others.
