Is anyone watching Darth Vadar? My god John King is the worst. How can he just sit there and let Cheney lie and lie, and not call him on it? The picture should be John kissing his "a--" instead of sitting across each other at a table. No more CNN Sunday, that's for sure.:puke:

But on weekends, it is more unwatchable than CNN... What gives? Is there no news on weekends?! And is there such a vast audience for serial killers, prison inmates and pedophiles?! Yikes! x(

Having no news on Friday night is really weird. It's bad enough that the weekends are just full of creepy documentaries.

9. I watched for two minutes
During that time John King holds up a copy of "Human Events" newspaper saying that most people have never heard of it but that he reads it every day. The headline is a about Obama's 'hidden agenda' with a very unflattering pic of Obama.

They proceed to commiserate on the article and Obama's hidden agenda.

At that point I turned it off. :puke:

15. HUMAN EVENTS?
Edited on Sun Mar-15-09 11:50 AM by Demoiselle
OF COURSE John King reads Human Events! EVERY DAY! Herewith, a little info on said publications, courtesy Wikipedia:

"Human Events is a weekly conservative magazine founded in 1944. The magazine takes its name from the first sentence of the United States Declaration of Independence which reads "When in the course of human events..."
.......Notable columnists include Ann Coulter and Robert Novak. Human Events is published by Eagle Publishing of Washington, DC, and is a sister company of Regnery Publishing.
According to journalist Richard Reeves, Human Events was former President Ronald Reagan's favorite paper. During face-to-face Cold War negotiations, Reagan told Mikhail Gorbachev that he could not give up the Strategic Defense Initiative because the editors of Human Events, "the so-called right wing, and esteemed journalists, who were the first to criticize him," were "kicking his brains out" over the defense system they supported.....
.....
Human Events regularly puts out top ten lists.....(as in) .........a list of Ten Most Harmful Books of the 19th and 20th Centuries:

The Communist Manifesto, by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels
Mein Kampf, by Adolf Hitler
Quotations from Chairman Mao Zedong, by Mao Zedong
Sexual Behavior in the Human Male, by Alfred Kinsey
Democracy and Education, by John Dewey
Das Kapital, by Karl Marx
The Feminine Mystique, by Betty Friedan
The Course of Positive Philosophy, by Auguste Comte
Beyond Good and Evil, by Friedrich Nietzsche
General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money, by John Maynard Keynes
Twenty books received honorable mention, including Silent Spring, by Rachel Carson."

ANY QUESTIONS?

24. Discussing it like
it was fact, not opinion was what made me change the channel. There was no counterpoint. King held up the paper like it was some kind of proof that Obama has some hidden agenda and of course Cheney is nodding his head in agreement.

Now perhaps later in the segment he referenced some article in THe Nation, but I sort of doubt it...

52. Wow...King is being so blatant. I use to hear
people say how bad King was. A few weeks ago I watched a lot of his show and realized no one was exaggerating. I watched little bits after that and oh so bad...

I pondered watching today...would he use that same insulting sort of questioning against Cheney that he did anyone who supported Obama policies? (Even if more politely) Maybe it was how he works...though I doubted that.

But I couldn't bear to see either King or Cheney and knew I'd hear about it. I figured I'd hear he didn't question cheney's crap at all...I didn't think I'd hear what you just told me. Talk about agendas, praising "Human Events" newspaper makes his crysral clear.

I never knew how much I could miss Wolf.

with Cheney. That was painful to watch. It's sad that Blitzer actually calls himself a journalist. He was asking the touch questions, but Cheney refused to answer them and then went on to kick Blitzer around like a wounded dog. The sad part was, Blitzer didn't stand up for himself - he just stood there and took it.

Where exactly in this interview did John King ask Cheny about his death squad who only reported to him or the memo's that have come out stating that Bush had free will to pick up any American off the street and imprison and torture them with no other cause except that "he thought they might be a terrorist"

Of course Cheney isn't going to say anything positive about a democratic administration that is reversing all his ill will policies. Why aren't they asking him about the horrible and illegal things he's done?

I can't understand why people here are so addicted to the cable political shows, and why they cannot see how that has a corrosive effect on their thinking and skews their view of what is and isn't important, and how politics and government actually work.

I don't think it is possible to watch very much of that without having your view of reality be seriously distorted. The truth and whatever they are peddling are incompatible, completely incompatible - one displaces the other. It is all so powerful and seductive, and so subtly misleading. It becomes "real" in our imagination, and then leads us to tune out each others voices - where the real value is - because no one of us can possibly compete with those slick and compelling presentations.

I am convinced that most of the feuding here, and most of the right wing talking points we have to listen to every day here, all have their origin in the MSM cable "news" and "political" shows.

A common charge leveled at any and all posters here who say anything even remotely to the political left, is that they "don't know what they are talking about" and that they are "a small fringe minority of no importance." Obviously, that thinking can only be based on a comparison, and a notion that there are other voices who are "somebodies" and who do know what they are talking about. I strongly suspect that those saying that watch a lot of cable TV, and that is what they are using as a basis for comparison.

TV is so powerful, so seductive and persuasive on so many levels and in so many subtle ways, that I do not think anyone can watch it and not be dramatically affected. You can easily predict exactly how much TV people watch by listening to the "opinions" they express.

because they lack acountability- and think that no one would ever dare divest and re-regulate them, they have lost any sense of responsibility and journalistic ethics.

53. I caught a minute of that disgraceful war criminal too
TV sells tension, it tries to create it like a cheap sitcom does, thinking viewers will watch the shit-flinging. TV whores couldn't be more wrong, I changed the channel after about 5 seconds.

54. Dick Cheney is irrelevant. I don't know why they give him a platform.
If I ran CNN, he would be persona non grata, meaning no interviews, no stories mentioning him, etc.

He is a proven liar and criminal; why let him use your network to spread lies?

59. John King Was Pitiful
The low point for me was when John King held up a copy of Terry Jeffries' "Human Events" and pretended like it was a "real" newspaper instead of a propaganda sheet for the far right-wing anti-abortion crowd.

62. Was John King always like this? I recall liking him and his reporting.

And I'm wondering if he's been influenced by his spouse's politics.

63. Didn't see it, but my local news played a clip of Cheney talking about what a wonderful
guy Rush Limbaugh is. Which pretty much said it all for me. They're both slimy, disgusting pieces of shit. Birds of a feather...

64. Ted Turner needs to start yet another cable news channel ... one that's like CNN when it started.
The other day, I was thinking about when the first Gulf War started ... with reports from Baghdad with Bernie Shaw and Peter Arnett and John Holliman. CNN just had so much more gravitas back then.

Now, CNN is just silly. Giggling fools, who smile as they announce some gruesome death.
And Headline News ... please. Ridiculous.

You can even hear those reports on YouTube.

72. I'm with you. Why do they continue to enable that fearmongering troll/bigot?
Cheney has ZERO credibility. So don't put that troll liar on TV and act like he's an authority on anything. He is a disgusting person with no class. I'm pleased with Gibbs' response.
