I think Congressman Schock most likely LIED today on the House floor

Is Rep. Aaron Schock LYING? He claims 1,400 Caterpillar employees have asked him to oppose the stimulus

Now before folks over react, we are NOT accusing Schock of lying, we simply do not know the truth. HOWEVER, we know the UAW supports the stimulus package and many Caterpillar employees belong to the union. Furthermore we learned today that when President Obama mentioned that folks reach out to Schock and urge him to support the bill Obama many in the room cheered.

So is Schock being truthful when claims that none of his supporters have urged him to support the bill and 1,400 Caterpillar employees have urged him to oppose it?

Video of Schock today--http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZvUOu5WvYjY

ON EDIT: Evidently Schock didn't here the folks cheering when Obama told them to urge him to vote for the bill. See the video here:

1. That doesn't seem possible
I'm sure a few freeptards work for Caterpillar, but that number seems unlikely, given the fact that the bill means fewer layoffs.

4. A simple syllogism can clear any questions up immediately.
Schock is a Republican.
Republicans lie.
Schock is lying.

I hope that helps.

9. Repubs are friendly with squirrels, too.
Crandall Canyon Mine Owner Murray: Nuts Over Talking Squirrel
http://blog.aflcio.org/2007/08/11/crandall-canyon-mine-owner-murray-nuts-over-talking-squirrel/

Ask most of the miners working at the Maple Creek or Powhatan No. 6 mines to tell you owner/operator Robert Murray’s squirrel story, and you’re in for a treat.

The way Murray tells it, he had just been let go in 1987 as CEO of North American Coal Company and was feeling extremely down about the whole situation. At home one day, Murray was sitting on his back porch, contemplating his future, when he was approached by a squirrel. Murray says the squirrel hopped up next to him, looked him square in the eye and said: “Bob Murray, you should be operating your very own mines.” Unfortunately for UMWA miners, this seemingly intelligent rodent wasn’t too keen on fairness, so it neglected to add the words “and make sure you treat your workers the way you would want to be treated.”

7. It's a real stretch to believe 1,400 employees would be willing
to put their jobs on the line for this representative.

8. Where does most of Catepillar's campaign money go?
Edited on Fri Feb-13-09 02:45 PM by rocktivity
Very interesting--first there's a "misunderstanding" about whether Catepillar was going to re-hire those they'd laid off, now this. Are they deliberately trying to embarrass Obama?

10. Caterpillar was one of the main companies crying about the Buy American provision
My guess is as soon as he found out it was still in there he decided to try and embarrass Obama. Maybe he needs to also add a Buy BOBCAT provision as well
