Steele's "Peek a boo theory of job creation and employment"
Edited on Sun Feb-08-09 07:02 PM by sandspur
This is a brilliant phrase that I just saw from a commenter on Huffinton Post . 1liberalconspirator is who posted the phrase, I do not know if he coined it or just repeated it, but it is the kind of thing that we need to get put into circulation. It totally destroys Steele's entire argument in a simple and catchy sentence, it is demeaning with out being obnoxious How do we get these kind of phrases that help frame the debate in our favor out there? Peek-a-boo theory, as good as voodoo economics.

1. Here is what Steele is saying about job creation:
I am gong to paraphrase: Government projects are make work since they have an end point. Jobs created by business are jobs since they are open ended. He goes on to state that in the private sector jobs go away, but then come back. Obviously there is some very flawed thinking, since if a business goes under or automates, or changes a process, those jobs will not come back. (not to mention if they are out sourced to another country)Nor does he address the fact that the private sector also have projects that have end points as well. Or the fact that certain government jobs are not projects, but open ended long term carers.

you can read it here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/02/08/steele-confuses-stephanop_n_164991.html

But the whole idea that private business jobs go away and then come back, is just ridiculous. The term Peek-a-boo theory just fits it to a tee. Sorry for the disorganized post, long day at work. But when I read the phrase after watching Steele, it just struck a cord as being the perfect description.

I listened to him this morning talking about the jobs leave but then they come back? I'm like what the hell is he even talking about? He doesn't know himself.
