Poll question: Gregg Open to Commerce Post -- if a Republican Replaces Him
Sen. Judd Gregg (R-N.H.) appears willing to serve as commerce secretary, on one condition: His replacement in the Senate has to be a Republican.

And despite some other recent kerfuffles over Senate vacancies, Gregg is openly demanding a trade-off for his seat.

"I have made it clear to the Senate Leadership on both sides of the aisle and to the Governor that I would not leave the Senate if I felt my departure would cause a change in the makeup of the Senate," Gregg said in a statement on Monday.

2. Shades of Blagojevich.
Everybody wants a deal. Whatever happened to doing something just because it's the right thing to do?

What a selfish, self-centered society we've become. :(

7. Agreed.
No deals. Play by the rules or don't play at all.

4. This thing with Judd Gregg is mind-bogglingly stupid.
It's hard to wrap my mind around how truly stupid the whole thing is.

Congratulations President Obama. You're about to appoint a Republican hack with no apparent expertise in the Commerce Department as Commerce Secretary to be replaced by another Republican in the Senate.

God he's had some horrible picks in his Cabinet.

6. Gregg gets the gig IF AND ONLY IF a Democrat replaces him. Period.
There is no other reason why he should be appointed. We need the Senate seat and fuck the Repigs if they think otherwise.
