Republicans and their Gimmicks! They can only Steal, baby, Steele!
Edited on Sat Jan-31-09 02:03 AM by FrenchieCat
From the Jack and Jill politics.com Blog; Black Folks commenting on the New Head of the RNC.

For all the flack, mocking and dismissiveness President Obama received from the opposition, it sure seems like Rethugs are following his lead....

And now for more "STEAL, baby, STEAL....."

From an article at Time.com
"Recently, Steele put out a "Blueprint for Tomorrow" that indicated a determination to strike a balance between Republicans pushing to return to the party's core principles and those who "claim we need to modernize to meet today's reality." Said he: "To my way of thinking, we must do both, and quickly." In the blueprint, Steele clearly borrows key elements of Obama's groundbreaking tactic for generating record levels of donations with innovative social-networking tools. He calls himself a "technology geek," and already posted on the RNC's main website is his "Network for the Future," which features links to Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, Twitter, LinkedIn and blip.tv. At the very least, Steele knows his party needs to play catch-up."

If Republicans were handbags, they would be sold on Canal Street, "inspired" by the originals.

To the beat of "The Bridge is Over"....."Democrats keep creating it...Republicans keep on faking it"
------------

I guess I'm the only one who sees this as a big fat joke.

And I'm laughing.
-------------

Nah Craig - I have been smiling since the announcement. I think it is HYSTERICAL.

It is a beautiful thing.

-------------

Steele the Magic Negro - he's going to save the Republican Party. NOT.

--------------

I demand to see Michael Steele's birth certificate.

--------------

LoL

I have to say, Steele's speech sounded kinda "Obama-esque"....Now they want to emulate the "community organizer"

You know how the Republicans do.....STEAL, BABY, STEAL...nothing original

-----------------

Serious question:

Has Steele opted for some personal security?

If the white supremacists are angry at President Obama for being President, how do you think they will react when their party, their last refuge, is chaired by a BLACK MAN?

They might be more than "bitter".

I don't think the factions of the Republican Party are going to be good little soldiers.

----------------

But as the Washington Independent's fantastic Dave Weigel witnessed, Blackwell and Steele conferred man-to-man in the halls of the Hilton (instead of sending emissaries from their camps, as per the usual tradition), and Sailor -- who had some knowledge of the inside negotiations -- said they essentially agreed that "one of us has to lead this party." The desire to replicate the Obama magic is so powerful.

Not all the black Republicans in the Hilton's ballroom were overjoyed by Steele's victory. Among the complaints I heard: Steele never adequately apologized for busing in homeless people from Philadelphia to distribute fliers in black Maryland neighborhoods during his '06 senatorial campaign. Jabriel Ballentine, of the District, worried that the white party chairmen who had supported Dawson might not accept Steele. And Brian Summers, another young African-American GOPer from D.C. who spent the afternoon prowling the Hilton ballroom sporting a big, red "Katon!" sticker, regaled his buddies with some sarcasm: "I guess it's not about the content of your character, it's about the color of your skin."

-----------------
Who the hell do they think they're fooling?

-----------------

This is the guy who said students rolled oreo cookies at him! Come on now! I think it's great he got elected but we'll see if he has any actual POWER and what he does with it. Otherwise it's just window dressing and a waste of time. I love it, though. The Republicans are running scared now.

-----------------

Lets forget about Hannity and Limbaugh for a sec...how will Steele be recieved by the Council of Conservative Citizens (aka The White Citizens Council)? Do ya think they're celebrating over there on Stormfront? How's Steele gonna be received by the the same people yelling "kill him!" at McCain-Palin rallies? Yeah, I can't wait for the first time Michael Steele goes to Martinsburg, WV or Vernon, AL to spread the message of inclusion for the GOP Party!! That'll be great!!

of Fred Sanford....Big Dummy!

On Edit: When Blackwell was jumping out of the race he had the nerve to say we need someone who inspires "hope". I wanted to puke! These are the same people that joked about hope when Obama was running. They are disgusting!

?

Former brother-in-law of Steele, Mike Tyson, jumped on the Steele for Senate bandwagon. Who knew that the endorsement of a convicted rapist with a face tattoo couldn't win over the black masses.

3. Yeah, funny how Republicans like to imply blacks only voted Obama because of race.
Steele ran against a white Democrat for U.S. Senate and got only 20 to 30 percent of the black vote in Maryland.

The black voters know to vote their interests.

2. My god the GOPers are a shallow, stupid lot!
To them any African American man, or any woman is interchangeable with any other.

Steele is a cheap imitation just like Palin was a cheap imitation.

Obama, and Hillary are the real deal.
