Who will be Obama's ally in the White House? His Mother-in-law?
Edited on Fri Jan-16-09 05:45 PM by Pirate Smile
"Obama says this of his mother-in-law, Marian Robinson, who will be living with the family in the White House: We "get along great. In fact, she defends me when Michelle is too hard on me. So I want her there. She's an ally... She can be a little bit of a buffer if I screw up."

Barack Obama: 'Magnitude humbling'
The president-elect says his live-in mother-in-law will keep his wife in check.

"The magnitude of it is humbling,'' President-elect Barack Obama says of his inauguration coming Tuesday. "I'm sure I'll have trouble sleeping the night before.''

This is what Obama told CBS News anchor Katie Couric in an interview at the National Building Museum that will be aired on Tuesday at 9 pm EST as part of a CBS News prime-time special: "Change and Challenge: The Inauguration fo Barack Obama.''

There "has been so much work on the front end that I feel Jan. 21 is not going to feel that different from Jan. 19,'' Obama tells Couric, according to CBS. "But having said that, I think when you're sitting in the Oval Office, you're very clear that these decisions count. The magnitude of it is humbling. And I'm sure I'll have trouble sleeping the night before."

Obama says this of his mother-in-law, Marian Robinson, who will be living with the family in the White House: We "get along great. In fact, she defends me when Michelle is too hard on me. So I want her there. She's an ally... She can be a little bit of a buffer if I screw up."

And Obama says this of the wintry weather that has gripped Washington, with the inaugural ceremony slated for the wind-swept western front of the Capitol: "I get cold very easily. So making sure I've got my long underwear in case.''

No indication, still, if Couric has asked Obama what newspapers and magazines he reads for his sources of information.

3. Sounds like my mom was with my husband....I would call complaining
and she would say "leave him alone!". They are a great family.

9. Same here. And I think I know why that is. The women of the generation before us
really didn't expect as much of their husbands as we do. Thank goodness things have changed and we DO expect more. On the other hand, some balance is good. Our moms can remind us of what's really important and which battles to pick.

4. Good I'm glad Katie got
the interview..I'm liking her the best out of the big 3.

Earlier on when they were discussing if Marion would go to the White House with them..I was thinking "GO".

5. Well, she did help torpedo Palin...
and she did it without even trying! Who knew such softball questions would be so effective at destroying a candidate's credibility? ROFL.

What do you think the odds are that Obama gets in his morning workout on Tuesday?
