Will Obama cut SSDI?
Next month Obama will work on his budget and he's looking at entitlement spending. Does this mean he will cut disability?

3. I had that exact thought...
But then started thinking about the actual question and saw that you beat me to it.

I'm so ADD!

Oooh, pickles!

6. Cut it, no, I don't think so. Raise the cap on SS, definitely.
How disability payments are related, I'm not sure.

5. I think he proposed a benefit
In the stimulus package. He's one of the few who has ever even mentioned those on social security or disability so I seriously doubt he'll decrease SSDI. It needs to be raised.

Entitlement spending includes a lot more than social security. People are going to have to decide what their priorities are.

42. If anything AT all - the SSDI needs to be increased
in line with the ACTUAL COLA.

5.3% for this year isn't enough.

11. If he's as smart asI think he is, he'll raise it!
One of the reasons we have Social Security in the first place was a need to get money into the pockets of people who'd go out and spend it!

15. I hope you guys are right
I panic every time I hear him talk of entitlement cuts. My husband and I are both disabled and barely make it as it is. I go without medication at times because we need food and to pay the utilities.

16. He's not going to be taking money away from disabled people.
If there's even a hint of that, we would have to let him know he's wrong immediately. I think he's trying to make everyone's lot in life better, not worse.

38. A lot of disabled people have lived in fear these last eight years
My head thinks you are right but sometimes fear takes over. I belong to a group of disabled people and it's been horrific for people trying to get disability. Sometimes you cry when you read about the hell they are going through. Boosh made policies that make it more difficult to receive benefits.

The raise we received just barely covers the higher cost of my medication, the rise in utilities and food. When gas was over four dollars a gallon here we became hermits. The fact the democrats passed the children's health bill despite the gross obstructionist poop heads helped a little.

37. I am hoping that's what he is talking about
Before the medicare drug plan I didn't have a cap with my supplemental. After the cap most of my medications went up and I have watched my cap be lowered. This year is the first year it has stayed the same.

41. All he needs to do is remove the income cap and

tax all the income of the rich. If you make more then $90,000 a year, I think you can afford to be taxed on all of it, not just that first $90,000.

Cutting SSDI would be ridiculous. I don't know how people live on SSDI as it is.
