N.C. HS Student Seeking Donations To Attend Inauguration
This was on the local news tonight...I've e-mailed her and said I'd give something, even though I can't really afford it...I know times are tough for a lot of people (myself included), but if any other DUers wanted to donate, her e-mail is at the bottom of the story...

=====================
=====================

A Moyock, NC teen has the chance to witness history--Barack Obama's presidential inauguration.

But, the academic honor comes with a hefty price tag. Miranda Wright's mother just got laid off from her job and to make matters worse the tuition of her her week-long stay in DC is about $4,000. Her dentist stepped in and bought her an inaugural ball gown. But right now the dress is all she has.

Miranda sent this letter to several local businesses asking for simple donations, but so far her cries have gone un-answered. She hopes someone will hear her message of faith, and make her dream a reality. "It would make my life perfect right about now. I really want to go. I want to see history in the making," said Miranda.

If you would like to help Miranda or donate to her trip, you can email her at [email protected] or contact Currituck County High School.

6. I'm sorry, but this seems really frivolous
She should save money for college or to help her laid off mother. Any money I can spare, it goes to the hungry. She can watch this on TV with the millions of other kids who don't need to spend thousands of fucking dollars to witness history, like the rest of us. :eyes:
