New inauguration plans place thousands of additional buses in DC
Big sections in the heart of Washington, D.C. will be converted into giant parking lots next month, with District officials are now planning to allow as many as 10,000 charter buses — carrying an estimated 200,000 passengers — to park in the city itself for the presidential inauguration, the Washington Post reported Thursday.

The move — which represents a dramatic shift from earlier plans that would have placed most of these buses at sites outside Washington — comes amid concerns the Metro system would be overwhelmed by the massive wave of visitors, and thousands stranded in parking lots miles from the city.

Nearly all curbside parking in a massive chunk of the downtown area, and near Union Station, will be reserved for city and charter buses and official vehicles, with the exception of some residential areas. Most of the blocks between 11th and 21st streets, and from K through P streets, will be affected. Cars parked in the area without permission after midnight on January 20 will be towed.

1. ha ha! Cars will be towed!!!
I doub there will be enough wreckers to tow all of the illegally parked cars.

Part of the fun of watching the Inauguration from hundreds of miles away will be the spectacle of it all .... the mass assemblage of people.

2. Brother lives on Capitol hill
His house is walking distance to everything. We are getting up there on Sunday and the car is staying parked until Wednesday.

3. Funny thing is that most of us that live and work here
will probably stay home and watch the Inauguration on TV because getting around
is going to be hell. Start out early because a massive amount of people are going
to try to get down there at the same time.

4. I heard the projected number of attendees has been reduced
From 4-5 million down to 2 million.

I think I heard this on Bill Press' show earlier this week.

I don't know how they figure this stuff out, just reporting what I heard.

But that got to me wondering.

If PE Obama gets 2 million at his inauguration (which breaks the record, by the way) instead of the earlier higher projection, how will (not if) the MSM/thugs spin this into a "rejection" or "repudiation" of Obama?

I'll be one of the uncounted, at-home participants watching the festivities on TV. The following day I have an appointment to get my hair cut. My beautician and I are hard-core liberals. We're going to do some hugging and high-fives, with a little girl-gossip, like we like to do, on the side.

It all feels good to me.

6. I wonder how they determine any amount? I know they can go
by hotel arrangements and kind of estimate. I don't know if every bus has to register how many they are bringing or how that works.

They would be fools to try and spin any type of "rejection" of Obama. I wonder how they would account for a 3 million person drop off or even the original amount they expected? Who knows? The "world" is watching and happy this man is being sworn in on that day. They would be fools to even speak of rejection...but who knows with the MSM these days.

9. Hotel registration, estimates and just look at Craigs List
people are booking their basements and spare rooms. I don't know how many are coming but
it will be record breaking.
