In the headline of posts, ascii codes don't work because it's just a text version, not an html version, of what you type in. But in other places where the headline is converted into a string of html codes (that is, secondary placements of the characters from the headline), ascii will show up at the intended html character.

Hmmm, I'm not saying it quite right. It's just that in the one place you most want the heart to look like a heart, it doesn't.
