I wish Caroline Kennedy was my senator.
I live in NC and we are going to have Kay representing us but we still have Burr. So if CK does not get the NY seat I would be happy for her to come down here and run.

3. I would like to see the end of this family business stuff
I do think she would be OK but I would just as soon see a person who has been more a regular person in life than another 'special' person from a 'special' family. I just do not think that your genes makes you the person for the job. If one does not think I have reason to think this way, look at Bush and his whole history of special schools, colleges and jobs because who his father was and grandfather. This country was trying to get away from that and just do it with talent. My hold back is some times these 'special' families do have the talent. Nice to be back on line after days with out lights.

7. The nice thing about America
Edited on Tue Dec-16-08 06:25 AM by Jake3463
Is we have both in our seats of power. Bush was also a poor student and a nasty human being. He comes from the other side of being from a powerful family where you don't see the position in life as being a gift to help others but as an entitlement from God to rule.

As a reminder Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon were both from struggling middle class families and they still turned out to be total assholes. Think it has to do more with how you view your success in life than it does with who your parents may or may not have been.

20. Well I would like to see the talented ones do it
Some times they do come from very good families but to put people in just because they are from these families is silly. I mean we do have a history in Europe of some Kings being sort of smart, well educated and good rulers. We even can re-call a few of them, that is how rare they are. Also look at how Ted K. has turned out. He sure has worked for the every day people in this country and who would have thought he ever would have been like he turned out.

21. I had not read this when I did the last one. Yes he has been good
I must say he sure started off as just a man with a name. Maybe every thing that happened to him and his family made this man. I still on the whole feel very iffy about just giving power to people that just have a name they used to get to the top.

5. I don't. Not saying she wouldn't be good but she doesn't hold
a candle to Bernie, or imo, to Pat.

6.  Sorr but NY is entitled to a real Senator not just a symbol of the past.
You might be happy to just have symbol ot an Administration "yes person" but a Senator needs to represent the entire stae and act as a "check" on the exectutive branch and there is no evidence Caroline can represent the best interests of the State of New York.

8. At least she lived there most of her life
Edited on Tue Dec-16-08 06:28 AM by Jake3463
and frankly, I want yes people in congress when it comes to healthcare, clean energy, and rebuilding infrastructure or I guess we can have a replay of 1993 and the Health Care debacle where we have 57 Senators and the inability to pass a bill because we were too busy sniping at each other.

9. Sp did a lot of people. It doesn't mean they should be Senator ! What would she
know about jobs in Buffalo or dairy farms in upstate NY? This isn't a job strictly about "national " concerns. Senators should represent the best interests of the states. The interests of the State of NY should be the priority of its Senator. This should not be a legacy position or merely a footnote to any presidency.

15. Have you read her books, listened to her on the stump
or followed her work on education? I think she would be a real and powerful senator for New York state which is probably why she leads by a substantial margin in state polls. I know my in laws in Plattsburg, Buffalo and Derby are supporting her.
