He was definitely my choice for Treasury Secretary. I also liked the idea of Volcker taking the post for a year or two and then handing it over to Geithner.

Excellent, fresh choice.

1. Wasn't familiar with him
but I did hear his name bandied about by the pundits and analysts, including a couple I actually respect. Sounds like the guy is fairly well revered in New York State. I have every confidence that Obama chose him because he's the best.

2. Geithner was logical choice
Summers will be an advisor, but I think he comes with too much political baggage and is hard to work with (and would be better off as Fed Chair, once Bernanke's term expires early 2010). Geithner is smart, knows the players, yet has a zeal for reform - he's also not so tied to special interests like Paulson. Geithner is also a Volcker protege.

3. Yup. I was hoping all along. Summers had baggage and Paulson is too much of an idiot to keep on

5. Geithner was my fave from the start
he just seemed right to me, that's a sorry basis for my pick, but there it is.

6. Hadn't heard of him until his name was announced
but I'd say give him a chance before shitting on him.
