So...Since Obama & Biden Retired From The Senate, Does That Mean We No Longer Control It?
I mean, there were 49 democrats and 49 republicans and 2 independents before the election, now with Obama and Biden retiring, there are 47 democrats and 49 republicans and two independents.

Does that mean in this lame duck session that republicans regain control?

When do the governors of Illinois and Delaware appoint replacements? Do they have to do it before the session starts again? In that interum does the GOP regain control, or is there a power-sharing system in place before the lame duck session ends?

How is this going to work?

2. No, there was an agreement that the Dems controled
the Senate for this entire Congress (which expires when the new congress is sworn in).

3. No, and anyway, the IL governor can name a replacement for Obama at any time.
Biden has not yet resigned. When he will the DE governor can name a replacement at anytime too.

5. Why didn't Barack wait until right before he is sworn in?
Is that what Biden is waiting for?

Or something like that. His situation is different to Barack's.
