A new theory about the "forgeries" regarding * services...
A buddy I work with came up with this idea. And I have to tell you, it's very clever and he believes this is what Rove did.

He said, "what would be the best way to discredit someone?"

Rove or a minion of Rove, "leaked" the forgeries to CBS, via a back channel. CBS and whom else ever, picked it up, begin the media coverage. Then at some point, Rove and/or his minions dispute the information as forges. This suddenly makes Kerry look as if he is in the hot seat by association.

Interesting theory, huh?

3. Someone answer me this
I don't want to start another forgery thread. Has anyone claimed that the signatures are forged? If the signatures aren't forged, the case is pretty much closed, no?

4. 2 birds, one stone
They want Kerry destroyed and they hate CBS/Rather. Remember there was the 'tape' sent to Al Gore (and as I posted on another thread, they did that because they successfully set up someone else prior to that on tape/playbook of upcoming debates--Dukakis maybe). In other words they have done this stuff before. It's not new for them.

5. The problem is, they aren't forgeries....although Rove is behind it
By focusing on fonts and character spacing, the attention that should be paid to the content is getting lost in the shuffle. And the content is pretty damning.

Here's the kicker: CBS didn't just dig up old memoes and pass them off as the story. They actually did some reporting. They have taped inverviews with the memoes author's superior -- a retired General. He said that what was in the memoes is exactly what the author said and felt at the time.

Plus, as Walt Starr has posted before, CBS probably has other memoes on entirely different subjects becuas they were all part of this man's personal file. So that would indidcate that every single page in this man's personal file is a forgery.

This dog just don't hunt.

8. Not forgeries, 60 Minutes too credible of a source
lawyers vet the information, especially when working at this level - no lawyer would give the go ahead if that lawyer didn't feel as though s/he couldn't make the case in a court of law.

Don't allow yourself to get sidetracked by conspiracy theories. This is not a final blow to Bush but is yet another link in the chain that will drag him down. Remember, Watergate didn't get Nixon overnight.
