44. It's not JUST b/c of his marriage if you watch the whole interview
John King several times tries to get him to say that whether Palin was qualified and if McCain had made a mistake.

He WOULD NOT say that she was qualified and he wouldn't deny that it was a mistake.

Palin and the rethugs that back her openly are all knuckle dragging, mouth breathing, bigoted know-nothings and Ahnold knows it.....

Arnold's okay. He didn't engage in really vicious attacks against Obama, like one supposed democrat we know and hate (Joe Lieberman). And he's a frickin' Kennedy by marriage! I bet he may have even voted for Obama.

10. Okay, I'm from California
and the truth is, Arnold isn't doing much worse than the guy before him. I don't love Arnold, but he IS at least a social liberal who voted NO on Prop 8 and came out publicly against it.

The more I lurk on this board, the more I get the sense that, for a lot of you, it's ALL or NOTHING. Everything is black and white. That's no better than some of the freepers I've seen.

At least Arnold is saying he'll back the guy 100%. That's more than you can say about some Republicans -- and some of us, at this point.

37. According to CNN story Arnold seems to be pro gay rights.
"Speaking on CNN's "Late Edition" Sunday, Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger expressed disappointment at Proposition 8's passage.

"It is unfortunate," Schwarzenegger said. "But it is not the end because I think this will go back into the courts. ... It's the same as in the 1948 case when blacks and whites were not allowed to marry. This falls into the same category."

17. He has turned out okay, IMO.
Not nearly as bad as most of us were expecting, and surprisingly good in some ways. Yeah, he made stupid remarks a few days before the election, but I think it shows some character to say publically that the campaigning phase is over, and it's time for us all to get on board together and fix the broken country.

and yes, sadly for many, it is all or nothing. Everything is black and white - with us or against us and worse of all, it has to HAPPEN NOW DAMNIT.

Just imagine what DU and the world would be like if they truly used the understanding they so demand from others, if empathy and compassion were more than just a part of their vocabulary.

21. arnold has an interesting history
he was the son of a sheriff in austria who was socially coerced into nazi party membership
for a long time he shopped a script quietly based on his fathers story but no one would make a movie about a sympathetic nazi

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arnold_Schwarzenegger

Schwarzenegger commissioned the Simon Wiesenthal Center to research his father's wartime record, which came up with no evidence of atrocities despite Gustav's membership in the Nazi Party and SA.[

25. Maybe he should have Saved the 20 Billion fucking dollars
he let Enron shine on when they created false brown outs in Cal.. That's the real reason he was installed, to let that lawsuit by a Fine Liberal Gov get kicked to the curb.. Plus they proved they can install a right winger with only about 17% of the populace voting..

Yeah, no real difference, my ass..

30. And I can point to some pretty shitty stuff
that Gray Davis did, like his last education budget, for one.

The point is, Democrat or Republican, there are going to be things they do that we don't agree with. But for Arnold to say he backs Obama 100% is, I think, a step in the right direction.

31. There are going to be things You don't agree with..
backing a scumbag and saying you want to meet in the middle has never been a fair exchange and people are wise to it now..

Gray Davis was a fine politician, the Terminator is a Right Wing shill, full of Hypocrisy and related to actual Nazis, it's not a matter of agreeing to disagree, pols installed by rotten right wingers and corporate interests are traitors and need to be rooted out, exposed and sent packing..

It's them or us and this is war.. Whether we agree or not, it's HOW these bastards get around the voters actual wants that in the end reveals their real objectives - to drown our fellow poor countrymen in a small tub by destroying Govt protections, and handing the money to corporations..

You telling me that Gray Davis was FOR "Leave No Child Behind?"

Busted.

52. No, I'm saying
that the last budget Gray Davis gave to the education community was abysmal, which had nothing to do with Leave No Child Behind. Gray Davis also rolled over and let this state get fucked by Bush and the energy companies, so I'm not sure what your definition of "fine" is.

But smearing Arnold with the Nazi reference is disingenuous. His father may have been a member of the party (reportedly by force), but that doesn't make Arnold himself a Nazi and I think his approach to social issues proves that. Like his support of the anti-Prop 8 groups. And suggesting that he is one makes you, to my mind, no better than the people you're trying to call out.

We live in a society of differing philosophies and opinions, and the problem with your hard line "them or us" approach to the world is that it doesn't help solve any problems.

Obama was elected based largely on his appeal to those of us who want to see a bipartisan approach to solving them. And in that spirit, I will take Arnold at his word -- even if I disagree with some of the stances he has taken in the past.

Davis ROLLED OVER? DO the Unicorns bite on your planet? He was SUEING ENRON for about 20 BILLION dollars for their FALSE Brownouts, of course the TERMINATOR was installed with 11% of the public actually voting, a republican TRICK, so that he could RECIND those lawsuits..

But let's meet in the middle somewhere..

54. Davis's lawsuits were too little too late
Foresight was obviously not his strong suit.

But this isn't about Davis. It's about Arnold and the spirit of bipartisanship, which you seem to want nothing to do with.

That's your right. Go ahead and take your toys and play somewhere else.

39. But let's face it, there's a universe of difference...
...between Dubya and Obama.

I'm reminded of the scene on South Park (SPOILER ALERT!) where the barricaded McCain supporters come out the next morning to find their town is still there, bathed in a beautiful sunrise, and come to the conclusion that "Maybe Obama won't be so bad after all." Contrast that with the days after Dubya's selections. There was never any cause for a Dem to say "Maybe Bush won't be so bad."

If there are former rethug voters coming to the realization that hope is better than fear, creation is better than destruction, and that maybe life will be better for them now too, then more power to them, I say. Should we deny people their awakening? I used to be big on holding grudges and extracting revenge, myself, but more and more I come to the conclusion that we need to focus that energy on the future, not the past.
