Republicans Pouring Money into Georgia runoff -What are we doing ?
Got this alert from a friend's blog.

We have an opportunity like no other to continue our good works of this election and send Jim Martin to the U.S. Senate from Georgia.
How sweet a sound it would be to send Saxby Chambliss to defeat in December.

From Chambliss's campaign spokesperson Michelle Grasso in The AJC .

"The profile of the race went up in the last few weeks. We'll be getting some extra hands and we will need them"
Grasso said she did not know how much a runoff might cost, but said new contributions for their campaign began arriving Wednesday after word got out that a runoff might be in the offing.

What are we doing?
I put out a call last night in a diary and raised just over $100 from 4 new donors. I don't care if you give $1 or $2 you have to get involved in this race.

Folks we are headed for a runoff and the Republicans are going to view this as their last stand of 2008 in the South. What would be better than to beat Saxby Chambliss with a true Progressive Democrat in Jim Martin.

The Republicans are viewing this as a must win for Georgia and their national brand. If they lose this seat then nothing is safe.

We need to take the same hard line stance and see it the same way. The balance of 60 may hang in this victory depending on what happens with Begich and Franken. Regardless it puts us one voice closer and gets rid of one of Bush's most ardent allies and supporters in the Senate.

Can you help us go Peach To Blue and Take the Georgia Senate seat.

1. Doesn't Obama have several leftover millions to give to Martin?
That would be a great thing to do.

3. I think he needs to send his voting lawyers down there also it would be
nice to get something going on the internet within the Obama framework. Martin has asked
Obama to help campaign down there in December which is a State he never visited it might just break
the thing wide open.

2. He is a total scumbag that needs to go
plus this election looks fishy -- more Diebold and Disenfranchised voters, or the GOP's Op of D & D.

They say we had less turn out than in 2004...when we registered 500,000 new voters since 2007. Karen Handel (SOS) is as bad as Katherine Harris in her blatant ignoring of orders not to purge voters.

Please donate what you can! Chambliss is the guy who started all kinds of horrible things about Obama and his presence in the senate will be a NIGHTMARE. He is a sick person -- fundy neocon racist pig of the highest order.

6. Martin doesn't have a chance if Obama doesn't come out publicly in his favor.
For Martin to win, Obama's voters have to return to the polls in massive numbers and only he has the ability to make them do so.

8. Well, maybe we can get something going at a grassroots level
and see if it really can come from the bottom.

9. I posted the link to request an absentee ballot for the runoff.
Let me post the link again tonight.

http://sos.georgia.gov/ELECTIONS/elections/voter_information/absentee.htm

One of the reasons the talking heads are saying Saxby would probably win a runoff is because turnout for a runoff is usually extremely LOW! There are a number of reasons you can request an absentee ballot, and one of them is if you are going to be out of the precinct on voting day. (Or THINK you'll be out of the precinct.)

All it costs you is a First Class Stamp, or NOTHING if you can fax your application!

I will send some money to Jim Martin, but I also think we could contact the DNC and ask THEM for some $$ help for Jim too!

I also heard that Obama has some $$ left from HIS campaign and he's limited by law what he can use it for. One of those things is to give it to some other candidate who needs $$ help. Jim Martin has already contacted Obama to ask him to campaign for him, so MAYBE......
