Thanks for welcoming me and you're both right. I'm in Ridgewood, Bergen County, and proud to say I was first in line to vote at Somerville Elementary on Tuesday. The polls opened at 6:00 am and I showed up at 4:55 am to watch the poll workers, who were mostly self-identified Republicans.

(To prevent any shenanigans...)

By 5:45 the place was full. The poll workers said some of them had done polls for two or three decades and had never seen an election turnout that early, that full, that fast. All of us had grim, worried expressions ("This MUST go right this time!"). Because of that, I'm assuming everyone standing behind me in line were also Democrats.

It's what America was founded on, and it was written a very long time ago in something called the Age of Reason, also known as the Enlightenment. But we'll talk about the Enlightenment later. For now, let's just read together, okay?
