In retrospect, was a lengthy primary a bad thing or a good thing?

I admit, I was one of those people (along with Rachel Maddow and others) who **knew** defeat was inevitable because of how badly we bloodied our candidates.

In the end, despite all of that, we won.

Maybe it's too early to start analyzing this, but I'm curious what people think.

..and Hillary did Obama a favor by fighting a tough race 'til the end.

3. Length meaning 730 days and some $1.3 trillion in campaign money spent

...is absurd. We can be assured that the GOP right wing will begin their campaign for the 2012 presidency this Thanksgiving. The propaganda and lies will be intensified and the money stakes will be doubled and even tripled.

4. This people thinks it's way past time to get over the primary.

We have a result. I'm looking for thoughts on how we got from there to here.
